I have no idea what the critics were on about when they said the movie is "an incomprehensible mess" with a bad plot and poopy humans. I watched it on the big screen today and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED ALL OF IT!

The plot IMO is actually quite simple and pretty easy to get into if you aren't inherently repulsed by anything of the sort and purposely try to not get it. I acutally liked the human characters in the movie and got concerned when they were in trouble and stuff, so don't see any problems with human characters either. Sure there are some problems as most of them don't really get much development and some of them were a bit underutilized (Charles Dance and MBB especially) but humans aren't my main focus in a movie called Godzilla King of the Monsters. One of the characters though gets a truly phenomenal moment that I won't spoil. So yeah, humans are better than critics say but not totally 1954 Gojira level.

The directing and camera work might be a little jittery but it's all subjective. Unpopular opinion but the cutaways were actually more enjoyable to me as they captured the hectic feeling especially when King Ghidorah is doing his thing.

Finally, the over-the-top action was TOP NOTCH! There was also plenty of respect given to the source material with references and easter eggs (with one spoilery exception).
I loved all of the monsters, all of their sounds, all of their behavior and all of their fighting. Godzilla was a force of nature world guardian balancer dude who's destructive but means well, Mothra is a divine goddess like Kaiju that lives to protect but also protects herself if threatened, King Ghidorah is a sadistic malevolent destroyer who really gives meaning to the word Monster. He kills people in his way and also stops to kill everyone else. This is a kaiju that wants to watch the world suffer. Rodan is kind of given a minor role but he still has guts taking on stronger kaiju by himself.

Overall I found the movie to be an incredible experience. 10/10. I wish more people would watch it as it needs box office success for the Monsterverse to grow and make more awesome movies in the future that both critics, fans and general audiences will love.

I'm pretty sure the critics said that it wasn't focused too much on the human parts and focused more on the Monsters.
It's like they don't know the point of a Godzilla movie or something.

I'll try not to say too much about critics, If I were to talk about them too much it would eventually turn into an obscene rant involving Ghidorah's shiny triple dong.

First of all, The critics have absolutely NO idea what they're talking about and are biased as HELL. In fact, one of their "top critic" reviews has the summary "Is it a good movie? It's a Godzilla movie, so no."

I also disagree that movies can be objectively good or bad because they are works of art. Even if you take a s*** on the ground and call it art, someone will see it as good art. It's like the critics wanted to see a human portrait like Mona Lisa but saw one of Picasso's bizarre thingamajiggers and instantly hated it and called it a mess. If one were to really TRY to look at it in a non-negative light and put even the barest effort into understanding it, they would see that it's pretty good! Sure it's no 1954 Gojira and the plot is rather simple but it's still an amazing film for the monsters and Serizawa alone.
