I just had to make a topic for this LEGENDARY series b/c I had to.
What do you think about this series?
Personally, I love BOTH the reboot and the original. The original gets better and better with episodes 6 & 8 standing out.
All of the characters are perfectly in character, in particular my boi Shadow is treated perfectly as is Sonic and all of the others.
This series is INCREDIBLE.

I have to agree. The Episode 1 reboot had massive changes to the first two episodes of the original series, especially with Mario beating the seven balls out of Bowser while One Punch Man music plays in the background. Brawl on a Vanishing Island was awesome as Android 17's Super Electric Strike, with Mario being a badass fighting Super Mecha Sonic, the latter ripping off Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge by an immense level by using Atomic Supernova on Yoshi's Island, and the Axem Rangers ripping off the Ginyu Force.

Episode 8 was really good as well, with Sonic's "Tatsumaki Senpukyaku," the fourth wall break from Luigi, and Fire Sonic.

I like how all the main characters represent the characters from the Dragon Ball Z Kai series and two of the DBZ movies.

Mario's the Goku of the group, while Luigi is the group's Gohan. Yoshi is the group's Yamcha and Piccolo, with trouble always following him and the fact that his home was completely destroyed. Sonic is the Future Trunks in the group, and Shadow is obviously the Vegeta in the group, going headfirst into battle rather than plan a strategy out first. Mecha Sonic is a mix of Cooler, Frieza and Broly, with the Cooler part playing out when Mecha Sonic kills every target he comes across, the Frieza part playing out in Episode 6, and the Broly part playing out via his immense hatred for Sonic.

It's been years since I've watched it so I almost forgot about it.
Mark should have continued the story from where he left it instead of making a reboot.

Also, Mecha Sonic is obviously Cell.
Really obvious.
I am disappointed that he rebooted it especially since we were going to get the Shadow vs Mecha Sonic fight.
Still, we will get episode II eventually, rest assured.

I think he canned the reboot too. A shame that no Mario and Sonic series seems to last. (Used to watch Worlds in Danger, but that's kinda dead too). I'll probably write a Mario and Sonic fic eventually and if I ever get into sprite animation, I'll try to make my own. I have the whole plot for at least 1 season in my head already, just need filler. (Now I just need some long free time to write my fic)

Honestly, my biggest problem with SMBZ was that it killed off pretty much the entire Sonic cast for the sake of angst. Like, we could have had Tails, Knuckles, Amy and the likes participating in DBZ styled battles too. Some other sprite animation series like World In Danger and Super Mario Bros GT are working on that, and what they have is pretty dang awesome. My own stupid crossover fanfic is also written with this kind of feel in mind, and if I ever get into sprite animation or 3D animation, I might just make my own.

Y'know, giving the story its mandatory sad parts and making Mecha Sonic's actions much more grievous. They had a lot of potential for fighting and interacting with the Mario cast but were killed off to make Sonic and Shadow's story more tragic. At least that's how I saw it. The Sonic characters can contribute a lot more being alive than being dead and fueling Sonic and Shadow's quest.

it was for the sake of actually having stakes, which is goos.
Also Mark confirmed that Blaze lived, so hey, that's something.

Just hope for this series might rise to their golden ages back.
