If you don't stop talking about Nintendo as a whole...

Are you sure you know what obscure means? Because Waluigi and Bowser Jr. aren't obscure characters.

Obscure is anyone that didn't cause a step for Nintendo, or make a revolution for Nintendo.

As far as i can tell, the only obscure character in Smash so far is R.O.B. as its not really much of a character, just an accessory. But still, its part of Nintendo's history, so they'd have R.O.B. in regardless of how obscure it might be.

As a playable character though, R.O.B. is a bit farfetched, not that its not interesting, but its strange. I wasnt expecting anything more than a stage element, plain trophy status, or maybe a sticker.

So obscurity shouldnt really matter all that much in the long run. Most of Nintendo's classic characters pretty much fit that bill with todays generation anyways.

I'd say the Earthbound characters are pretty obscure. Their fanbase is pretty large/vocal on Internet forums n' s*** but outside of that nobody really cares much

F-Zero's borderline obscure given that it's not had a new game in ages. Ice Climber and Kid Icarus weren't exactly huge before their Smash debuts (although maybe not quite "obscure"), and I'll agree ROB

If we're talking about just the AVERAGE PUBLIC (like the non-gaming f***) you could probably add Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Pikmin and Metroid as well (or really anything that isn't Mario, Pokemon and Zelda)

I don't see why they would be talking about them, seeing as how they don't know much about Nintendo (or videogames for that matter) in general.

A character that can represent:
- Nintendo
- a part of Nintendo's history.
- a character that has impacted and revolutionized enough to be become popular.
- a character you would look up to for generations.

But the criteria doesn't have to act for third parties. :wee:

Yep, that sure sounds like Wolf to me.

Maybe they needed a villain for Starfox, that's all. :p

I don't really get why people b**** so much about Wolf. I mean, he gets enough focus in the games as Fox's rival. He definetly fits in within the rest of the villain line-up of Brawl.

he'd play just like ganondorf
except he's a little more floaty
and he takes out two swords instead of one
in his taunt

He would have an amazing 'slashing panic' taunt like Toon Link.

He'd be all square and stout and fight with two swords which no one else in smash does. Would probably have the same special moves but his a moves would be different.

Pit kind of does that though.

Well, more like 2 daggers, but I guess it's similair to what 2 swords would be.

EDIT: Maybe less stabbing but eh.

Pit rarely takes advantage of having two though. Nothing he does couldn't be done with one sword. Like I said it'll never happen though so it doesn't really matter.
