Instant Transmission's kick has some decent vertical power behind it.

Probably yeah. His aerials have less priority than Peach's do, but the general idea is similar. I think his vertical kill setups are more potent than his horizontal setups, but the two characters share a few things. Float canceling is amazing, so having experience with it helps a ton.

Goku has higher mobility, and his grab game is more flexible than Peach's, so he can be played a lot more aggressively than she can. Kaio Ken also introduces a second moveset, which means a lot of Goku's combos either lead into or otherwise depend on X2. I personally find defensive play less rewarding with Goku than I do with Peach.

This is accurate except for one thing...

What vertical KO moves does Goku have??? Up-Smash is pretty weak, up-tilt and up-smash were never really that strong, and up-air doesn't have that much knockback.

EDIT: Tried Kaioken Up-Smash out, it KOed ZSS around 130% on FD.

Yeah, Up-Smash isn't really something to be all 'wow' about, and his Up-tilt should only be used for juggling. But Savy's right; Up-Special does prove useful at some points.

I haven't yet been able to turn around when firing. Is there a short interval when Goku first starts charging where you can turn around? Also, Kamehameha never really felt useful to me... It's too slow and predictable to be used competitively and it doesn't feel like Goku; I feel like it should charge faster and be a lot stronger. I never saw adult Goku using a Kamehameha that wasn't full sized. XD

You turn it around AS you're firing it, I say hold the opposite direction while charging it.

And it does have it uses: Mindgames, surpise KO option, recovering, ect....
It's actually possible to use it against an over-defensive opponent, dash towards them>glide>reverse Kamehameha

They won't expect it most of the time, because the turn around happens within a split second.

I use it pretty exclusively to edgeguard because they can't really do much about it

I've also noticed how reliant he is on fsmash to kill outside Kaioken shenanigins.

I use upB instead of fsmash. The range on fsmash is just not good enough to justify using it.

lol, that was my problem with Goku I had a lot; his short ranged attacks. I always thought I would reach them but by the time I did Side-Smash or Up-Smash, it was too late -_-;

Maybe you should fix it, then again, maybe we should all just use Kaioken to get kills while hurting ourselves...literally.

So how exactly powerful is the Transmission kick compared to his fsmash?

Damage
Uncharged Fsmash deals 15%, charged 21%
Tranmission Kick deals 12%
Knockback
No charge, Fsmash

Not all moves have to be super useful gEmssbguy :)

Anyway, I could be wrong, but I think uspec scales with percentage at a faster rate, so it kills earlier, but at 0% it doesn't send as far.

Not really saying they have to be super useful. I was just hoping Goku had a good KO move outside of Kaioken stuff. Thanks though.

F-tilt is a very good and safe KO move. It comes out fast, has forgiving endlag, and has good range.

I can't exactly use ftilt due to auto dash....

Welp, bair is good too.

Also, why did up-smash get nerfed so hard? It's trash now outside of Kaioken.
