At least they had the decency to sell the Luigi expansion pack as an expansion pack and not a new game

Galaxy 2 is how you do a Mario sequel. NSMB2/U is not

it annoys me more than the side scrolling marios used to be really different with each iteration and it's only with the new series that they've started being samey. all of the old marios from like 1 through to land and world have a lot of stuff to differentiate themselves from one another and don't even share the same art styles (barring 1 and jap 2, but even then the gameplay differences were huge)
i miss when miyamoto was in charge of the franchise

I just hope the next console Mario game goes back to the Mario 64 gameplay style.

How about a metroidvania style Mario game, at least it'd be something they havent done yet.

I think that'd be better suited to a portable game though.

But Mario doesn't need new abilities. He can jump, and he has power-ups.

Never said he had to have new abilities, i just mean gameplay wise, it could be in that style, kind of like how Kirby did it for Amazing Mirror, and that game was awesome.

True. That might be really neat, actually

So since I just beat 3D World, I decided to play 3D land for the first time in forever. It's so hard to control after playing 3D World.

I was able to clear Super Mario 3D Land at 100% without losing a life, the bad thing is that I lost the game card. I got to buy the game again but I haven't cleared it like that since then. Kinda similar to my Super Mario Galaxy 2 case.

Clearing 100% without losing a life is not the same as clearing 100% and restarting the game after every death.

Killing Tanooki Luigi/Mario on purpose to relieve stress qualifies as animal abuse btw.

Yeah but leads to the same results... :shifty:

I mean, if I did like that, it would been a worse torture than the current torture I'm suffering trying to keep a death counter in zero by resetting each time I get killed. BTW, does Super Mario 3D World has a death counter?

Speaking of animal abuse regarding Tanooki Mario or Kitsune Luigi, it reminds me of this atrocious game:

Well, no actually. It'd be like if you were attempting a speedrun but constantly turned back the game's internal clock so it was stuck at five minutes the entire time you played the game. Or constantly deleted your online scoreboard so it looks like you never lost (whilst you clearly did this).

A zero-death run is a complete run in wich the player displayes enough skill to get through all the s*** the game throws at him/her without dying. It takes skill. You admit you get game overs when playing Mario, but you just f*** up the game. But you still die. Because you die you're not doing a zero-death run, otherwise you'd restart the game entirely (read: new game) every time you die.

It's not the same accomplishment, don't pass it off as such. That's all I'll say about this.

Does any Mario game have a death counter? I dont recall any Mario game telling you how many times you died. Because its not an important thing to know.
