Going by the knowledge that most smash characters don't fill in the role of background cameo and playable character at the same time (in a single version, mind you, I am aware that a couple of characters made their smash origin as background cameos in previous installements), as well as the nature of his roster spot (on which the general consensus is that it is likely the 'version exclusive mini-Link') I think it's pretty likely that Toon Link will not be returning as a playable character for the new Smash generation.

Then again you might just see that differently so to each his own.

IDK I was using the boss pic but wanted the blue background so I googled for a pic

I was referring to what's wrong with making Ridley playable.

He's too big.

This has been said A MILLION TIMES.

It is true that Smash alters designs a bit, including size, but Ridley already made his smash debut with a specific size as a boss battle. That specific size is regarded as 'too big' by the people who use that argument.

Excuse me, but Sonic is the same size as Mario, and Olimar is the same size as Ice Climbers.

I would personally actually like to see them pull off a Ridley, but if they were to change his size that much it would be really inconsistant with the rest of the series.

But I believe that, regardless of the aforementioned, if Ridley has enough support, Nintendo will at least consider him and look into it.

I think he might return because of Wind Waker HD, but I can see why he wouldn't. Him showing up as a background character isn't much of an argument for him not returning, though.

Within their games, maybe. Ridley has already appeared in Smash Bros, though. He already has a canon size -within Smash Bros-. Neither Olimar or Sonic appeared in-game (read: not as a trophy) before they were playable.

This has also been said A MILLION TIMES.

It still doesn't prevent it from being changed, like how Marth's sword length decreased.

I can see why you think that, and going by the Zelda canon they are actually different Links entirely, but I think Machinist Link still fills in the criteria to be listed as 'a Toon Link', and like I said before, in Smash Bros. characters are either playable or background cameos but not both at the same time in one version of the series.

But hey, live and let live. I would love for Toon Link to come back, myself.

Falchion isn't a character, though.

Ok, I am gonna just gonna give up on Ridley cause he just seems to have a Master Hand Moveset problem.
Like how Master hand shouldn't be playable.
It's hard to see a moveset IMO

They do have almost the exact same moveset in brawl tho, so i hope if Toon Link really is playable that he gets a new moveset
