I voted for Star Fox Zero because it was the only game I was hyped about from those.

A massively ambitious original Pokemon project, not only introducing new species to the world, but entirely new elemental types as well. Plus, there's three different player character options, so you can be the trap you've always dreamed of being.

D4D: Doom For Doom

With the overwhelming popularity of the new Doom, there could only be one appropriate response: mod all the best of the new content into the original game. Brutal Doom who?

Sonic Utopia

Even in its still-unfinished state, this project's playground approach of open exploration and momentum-based movement leads to one of most ambitious and creative Sonic games to ever forego dumb werehog gimmicks.

Somehow, one game managed to get a vote instead of all of them going to AM2R. Congratulations, Sonic Utopia.

Year's almost over, but that doesn't mean we don't have time to decide on the Best Boss Fight of 2016.

Star Dream - Kirby: Planet Robobot

Continuing in the grand tradition of making the final boss of a Kirby game into a shmup boss, this rogue AI with a twist that's spoiled in literally every video thumbnail brings the fight to the third dimension by becoming the best Star Fox game of the year.

The Hand - Furi

In a game filled to the brim with creative characters and boss fights, the Hand is among the first to introduce you to the world and lives outside your dimensional prison, and to give your fight for freedom that extra bit of emotional weight.

Iudex Gundyr - Dark Souls 3

The first boss fight of Dark Souls 3, and the one to drive home the point that the world is corrupted like never before in the series. Though not difficult (by Dark Souls standards), his appearance and sheer being are enough to make him stand out.

The Queen of Smiles - Salt and Sanctuary

A towering imposing figure, and one of the earlier bosses in the game at that, the Queen exemplifies the spirit of the game's mission to convert Dark Souls to a 2D plane mechanically and spiritually.

Dettlaff - The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine

With the finale of the bestselling RPG's final expansion comes a showdown against a dangerous and powerful vampire lord, a battle that not only brings a conclusion to the deadly game but offers a demonic reinterpretation of the species unlike any media before it.
