and what was good about Skyward Sword?

I'm not trying to argue here I'm just genuinely curious

But if you say "the story" I will disregard everything else

no it wasn't the story lol (though i did like it more than tp's)
it did a bunch of new stuff and i liked basically all of it, i really liked how the 'overworld' was more intricate and acted like a pre-dungeon dungeon, since it meant you were puzzle solving and doing all kinds of varied stuff all of the time, never just walking from point a to point b. i really REALLY liked the cast of NPCs, and thought it was cool that basically every single one was involved in at least 1 sidequest since it really built up the world and it got the game to make the most of skyloft itself, where other zeldas often just kind of abandon the starting town. which kind of leads into the other thing i liked, which was the way skyward sword was really friggen clever about how it reused all of its areas. people whine that you went back to 'the same 3 areas again and again' but you visit totally different parts of each one in every stage of the story, or they do other clever things like flooding the forest to make the same area into a totally different level design.

...
and the motion controls... were... actually good

I hate the motion controls because they just reduce the combat to "swing your sword in the right direction congrats you win" and that's if it registers

Like I know this issue differed from person to person but the motion controls outright failed to register sometimes

It was a very rare issue for me but still

if you had a button that registered being pushed less than 100% of the time it'd be a complete failure

And they clearly knew the motion controls had issues because you start with 6 hearts instead of 3 iirc

also changing the pointer controls from actually using the pointer of the Wii remote to the gyroscope is something I can't fathom at all

It's an outright downgrade and it's genuinely one of the most confusing game design choices I've ever seen lol

i think the issue with that is always going to be that it does differ from person to person (which i agree is a complete f***, like, if it differs from person to person it should either be fixed so that it doesn't or scrapped) but it's hard to have a negative view on the game when my experience with it never involved it f*** up yknow. like sometimes my pointer wasn't where i wanted it to be but down on the dpad (iirc?) recentered it to wherever you were currently pointing so the pros of it outweighed the con of having to occasionally press down on the dpad

It's just that

It worked perfectly fine in Wii TP, why the f*** would they change it

There's a lot of weird stuff like that. You can move the camera with the stck while aiming in TP, have to go to the edge of the screen in SS. You can cut grass while moving in TP, you can't in SS. Touching a fairy at full health won't use it in TP, it will in SS.

I just don't know why they forgot to write down improvements they made

yeah i agree with that stuff

though, outside of the pointer control stuff which they shouldnt have changed, the sword controls aren't really comparable since it wasn't exactly motion control sword fighting in tp lol

Cutting grass while on the move still felt great though

Also why does Link have a hat in SS anyway

it takes place before The Minish Cap, right

Leaked trailer. Hyrule Warriors 3D is coming, and it has Tetra and the King of Red Lions.

Beat me by three seconds...
Also, people have noticed a crossbow in the splash screen with everyone, which the concept art only Link's little sister was carrying.

lmao that's the first time i actually watched the video and

the number of enemies on the screen is hilarious compared to the wii u version

hey

you know they made a new 3ds for a reason, right?

have you considered making your games exclusive to it yet

it'd help everyone out a lot. thanks
