A first-person adventure horror game, with elements of stealth as well as of shooter games. It is one of the few games, if not the only one, to completely lack interface during game time. The game follows Jack Walters, a private eye who in 1915, is called upon to enter a mansion housing peculiar religious elements who are in gunned conflict with the police, requesting to see him only. Six and half years later, after Jack has exited Arkham asylum due to a remarkable recovery, he takes on a missing person case and begins investigations at the xenophobic town of Innsmouth. The story is almost solely inspired by various works of horror writer, Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

I fear not, but there exist other otherworldy elements that may be killed, so I deeply wish that your preferences will be hopefully met all the same.

One pretty much can't really kill a Great Old One, delaying it at best.
This game is more focused on Innsmouth, and the Deep Ones.

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn
[In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.]
Anyway, been meaning to get the game, but maybe when it's on sale. Can't say I'd enjoy that additional ending prerequisite though.
Also Cthullu did get stopped by a boat in the story it was in. Granted, everyone was insane/dead and it was only for like a second, but still.
