This really should be done by a case-by-case basis. If you see an animation that bothers you then report it to a mod and let them be the judge. If the image is close to 1MB I'd say that's good enough to warrant removal. Those first two example images are a good example of that

Whoa whoa whoa

Isn't that idea rather contradictory to the last issue we had with browsers being screwed over by parts of a person's profile?

No because there's a big difference between only one person being annoyed by something and
one thing annoying everyone.

I have s*** connection and my page still loads pretty fast with those.

Not my problem if you Aussie's have s*** connection, kinda like it's not our problem if KP's browser get's stretched.

Whoa, am I like seeing similarities here?

The "Aussies" are made up of more than one person, though. Oh, and Hakker over in Belgium.

2 people complained.

CCS and you.

I have yet to see Snobble's or DVDV's opinion.

3 when you count Hakker.

Just because they haven't posted in the topic doesn't mean they wouldn't rather get rid of the dumb animations.

Well you can't make their mind up for them, can you?

And I am by no means defending the animations, but I am saying how similar this is to the incident with the stuff in TSON's location.
If this passes I will really believe this place is following the standards of Threatre of the Absurd.

No, I can't., but I can challenge you to find one person who enjoys having their bandwidth sucked up without their consent.

Your argument is flawed because it's based on opinions that were never expressed.

So you're telling me that there are people here who DO in fact want to lose their precious bandwidth to this s***?

Maybe, but they never said anything.

Kinda like how there may have been people who had their browser screwed up by TSON's location, but never said anything in the topic.

See where I'm coming from?

TSON's posts are widespread, if someone else had a problem with it, they would've also complained by now.

I'm going to post their opinion now, but maybe that's because they didn't see the topic and post their problem oh no

If I recall, that ended in a "it's not a big deal if it bothers one person. They should cope with it because life works like that" etc. etc.

So what about being contradictory?

"Oh no if one person if bothered by TSON's profile who cares!"

"Oh man three people bothered by gifs we better implement a system!"

There is essentially little difference in the two.

Ok I feel like we're making too big deal out of this now. Like I said, if you have a problem with someone's sig let a mod or Admin know and we'll decide what should be done. I don't see a need to clarify the exact specifications of images to put in sigs as long as the dimensions are reasonable.
