Yes, it was wonderful and I loved it. But the changes are, in all honesty, not that bad.

Yes but nopw it gives you movement speed which is a lot f*** better anyway ryze was slow as f*** I used to run movement speed quints on him i mean I still do but yeah. Also his whole change buffed his damage overall and s*** also made his laning phase a bit easier because hes s*** earlygame

/op late reply Ryze is one of the top 3 mages. Ryze is not actually that weak of a laner, if you rush catalyst you can beat 90% of mids in trades (losing to only Cass, Kass, Galio, Leblanc, and Xerath). Of course, many other APs will out damage Ryze in lane, but the main thing is that his Q is 650 and his W is 625 range, both on short cds so he can root many other AP that have shorter range in place, so they cant use targeted spells to hit back, and then his ult allows him to easily juke skill shots. All of his spells have low cds so he can do this very frequently. The main thing about Ryze is that he builds extremely tanky making him difficult to kill, but still does a lot of damage late game, which no other AP mid except Sion can say (E farming + shields). He has good utility with a short cd root and aoe MR shred with his ult+E, op kite with Rylais+ult. With the defense cd reduction mastery, maxed Q and frozen heart Ryze reaches 38% CDR, which means that a Q and then any other spell will leave his Q with a 1.2 second CD, and his W and E have 14 second CDs which mean that after a full rotation of QWQEQR, they should be off cooldown again (accounting for time spent walking around, in a perfect world you would stand still spamming skills the moment they come off cd, but that never happens). Ryze does s*** on Veigar in lane. In the early levels Ryze Q and Veigar Q do similar damage, while Ryze's has half the cd and a Veigar's Q mana cost increases with level. Once Ryze gets Merc Treads and a Catalyst, he will take minimal damage from everything Veigar has, while his combo can chunk Veigar every ~8-10 seconds, and he can always just spam Qs. They can both set up ganks on each other, but Ryze's W is easier to land and Veigar is much squishier. Pretty much if I were to pick the top 5 AP carries right now, in no particular order I would have to say Karthus Cassiopeia Kennen Ryze Morgana Veigar has extremely strong burst potential, but his weakness in lane combined with his squishyness+lack of escape make him an undesirable pick compared to the other AP mids. Cassiopeia doesn't have as strong of a burst, but has superior DPS, AOE, greater range, and she also has an AOE stun while having an extremely strong laning phase.

kennen and karthus dont deserve to be on that list also I guess rushing catalyst could make him not as bad of a laner but still not the greatest

Explain why? In response to the other post: Karthus does arguably the most damage of any AP carry in the game. He lost popularity before because of the ability to shut him down in lane, but now with junglers donating wolf and wraith camps left and right, he can easily catch up/beat the opposing mid in farm in a matchup he would normally lose by shoving a lane out from under his turret, walking to wolf/ do wraiths from over the wall, clearing that, and then walking back to his lane to shove the lane out again. A good Karthus that can land a good amount of his Qs can also trade decently well with most AP mids that don't completely dominate him in lane (Anivia, Ryze, etc.). His wall is one of the best spells in the game, AOE slow and armor/mr shred, if you follow it with strong initiate such as a Nocturne ult, teamfight is GG. Requiem is just icing on the cake. Kennen has one of the most gamechanging ults in the game, AOE stuns for everyone on the enemy team is just broken. Not to mention the fact that he destroys many bruisers top lane that don't have true gap closers, is virtually ungankable, and his Q at level 1 is unbelievably broken for jungle invades, it is the lowest cd skillshot available to any manaless champion with the exception of Dr. Mundo, who doesn't normally get cleaver at level 1 anyways. Not to mention the lack of other champions with top 5 potential, Ahri is decent but her W/R is peeled by bruisers and her reliance on skillshots makes her a much less reliable pick than other champions. Anivia is also good but her early laning is awful and you are forced to pick a strong early game jungler without a reliance on blue, otherwise you will get counter jungled and Anivia without blue has no presence. Twisted Fate is also extremely strong in theory, but even in competitive play TF players choke and select the wrong cards, and his early laning phase is relatively weak as well.
