Spontaneous Generation stated things can from non living things (nothingness falls in that category). By disproving that, we disproved that, so something living had to come before the universe (God(dess(es)))

In that case, the world's beginning could've happened any number of ways.
Since there's no real evidence supporting God, it's just as well off as a random answer somebody pulled out of their a**.
