Hmmm, a poor decision. I select a snow field!

The field was covered with a thick blanket of snow, which the Red Mage knew would lower the mobility of any attempting to wade through it. He took another step, noticing that the snow was easily ten inches deep, more than enough to be a severe handicap for his opponent. His trademark hat was gone, one would easily notice, having been replaced by a red hood with golden lining.

The wind was picking up, turning the calming sight of snowflakes into a small blizzard, causing him to curse, knowing that this would make it harder for him to see. He swept his eyes over his surroundings, wanting to make sure that the chosen spot was far from any form of civilization, lest he be forced to hold back.

He let out a sigh of relief as the wind calmed down, allowing him to see much clearer in a matter of moments, though it was clear that the wind could pick up again at any time. He wondered if she would show at all, considering he had picked a location for the duel where he had such an obvious advantage. Patiently, He stood there, in the subzero climate, patiently awaiting an opponent that might never appear.

Such a freezing area.. submerged in snow and gusty conditions, the kind of conditions she despised the most. But she was never one to not take a challenge, she would have to take some precautions but nonetheless felt fit enough to fight in such a climate. She had more than a few aces up her sleeves, you might say.

Approaching from the distance, dressed in a heavy looking dark purple trench-coat with a matching hood over her head, she paced through the thick amounts of snow. The thick coat had an array of black designs running from the very bottom rims near her booted feet, up to the collar. These designs, seemingly running through one another as they ascend, converged completely in the middle portion, creating a circular rune with a cross-like engraving. Upon the right shoulder of this coat, lied a portion of a skull; severed across its width so that the frontal portion made for a pauldron, the lower jaw was missing as well, however what remained fit snug. At the front of this coat, were buttons straight down the middle, made of ivory as well. Sturdy enough to keep it closed and keep her warm. The hood was fitted from under the collar, a different garment entirely. It hunt low over her face, covering most of her features, however one could see the slightly tanned skin underneath, and the flowing forest green hair hanging ever lower than the even the hood.

She trotted slowly, These kind of conditions called for a difference in her usual combat techniques. Her pistol? she left it behind from whence she came. Hanging across her back was instead a particularly long-barreled arquebus. The weapon in itself was a proto-type, a new design of weapon, meant specifically and almost exclusively for long range combat. This change in arsenal helped to even herself out from her prior close-medium range effective combat styles. In her line of 'work', effectiveness in all means of combat was a necessity.

This arquebus, dubbed Corne du taureau, was modified from the original and mass-produced version of the rifle its made from. The barrel is thinner, and the shot smaller; thus increasing the velocity of the bullet, though giving it less of an impact. The barrel is also elongated, helping to increase maximum effective range. A first for this kind of weaponry, a simple scope lie connected to the sight. The scope wrought of brass, bared the image of a bull charging into battle. One might say this weapon is the predecessor to the modern sniper rifle.

At waist level the coat split, revealing her hips (and rest of her body) were still clad to the tight black leather suit, underneath the coats warmth. It also exposed the twin blades nestled at her sides, the Hermeranyx. Her throwing blades and extra shot were stowed away upon her vest, unseen.

Niniva came within sight of the redmage, her eyes taking upon him in the distance. Her nose.. failed her in such a cold area, the freeze did well to numb that sense; the howling wounds worked to distort that which she might hear. Truly, her sight was now her most tangible means of keeping track of the target. This would be a challenge indeed for the Lucarvi, in fact, the odds were stacked against her. This environment effectively contradicted much of her ability. But again.. there were more than a few aces.. up those sleeves. Her silhouette now stood in the harsh cold, a distant but easily recognizable figure..

The mage grinned as his opponent entered his vision, surprised that she had shown up, even after he had made sure she knew the weather conditions of the area. Though it was hard to identify her, nobody would dare face these kind of circumstances without a compelling reason. Thus, he deduced, this had to be the woman he had fought all that time before, a fight that he intended to finish here.

He eyed his opponent, deciding not to make any sudden movements until he at least had the time to analyze her. He vaguely saw the outline of a weapon behind her back, straining his eyes to identify what it was. "A rifle?" He asked silently, eyebrows raised. He hadn't expected this possibility, since his enemy hadn't come over as the type to use a ranged weapon during their last encounter. However, it didn't matter so much, his tactic would remain the same.

He swept his eyes over the area again. The natural presence ice and subzero temperatures would drastically improve his ice related spells, but caused fire spells to be an extreme waste of effort. The cold wind could improve his wind magic, although the wind was unpredictable and unreliable. He considered using water, but as he didn't exactly like the idea of having frostbite win the fight for him, he decided to avoid using them.

A smirk adorned his blue lips as he stretched softly, his combat outfit having remained the same since their last encounter, causing his entire form to sport only two minor adjustments. The first was the aforementioned hood, chosen because a hat in this rough climate would surely get lost. The second was a round, metal container hanging from his shoulder, reaching down to his knees, obviously weighing him down by quite a bit.

The mage reached back, slowly removing the container from his shoulder and placing it upright in front of him, the heavy object making no sound as it sank into the snow. He stared at the woman for a moment, before deciding that words between combatants were not needed, even useless, as they were most of the time laced with venomous insults, usually involving the fornication of ones parents. Raising his eyes to the sky, he hummed for a few moments, before grasping the round container with both hands and tossing it as high into the air as his grip on the metal object would allow. As it began to lose momentum, the object seemed to explode, shards of the container falling to the ground, a grand total of eight hitting the snow around Hakker with great force, instantly becoming buried under the white material.

Seemingly undisturbed by what just transpired, the red mage extended his hands to his sides, signifying he was ready to begin combat.

Niniva kept her eyes on her target at all times, finding curiosity in his new trick, nevertheless she was ready for combat. Reaching her arm back, she tugged her rifle out and hoisted it into a 2 handed grip. She assessed the situation.. Knowing full well her weakness's and strengths.. and that of her opponent.. she conjured up a strategy for battle.. the only one at all that seemed in any way feasible given certain circumstances both known and unknown to her target. She pulled up her rifle so that the top-side rested against her hooded forehead, the barrel pointed upwards.. shutting her eyes.. she smirked to herself. If i cant pull this off right.. im as good as dead.. she thought to herself; finding a twisted sense of risk in this particular fight. If he managed to find out her secret.. or take a certain action against her.. nay, there wouldn't be any hope left, she would die a miserable death in the barrens of this snowy wasteland. It was.. thrilling, death was so close.. like tenderness of a deceitfully deadly variety.. it brushed against her skin like a gentle wind.. it was all around her.. so close yet only separated by a single barrier.. and if that barrier were to be broken.. deaths cold hands would grip her like a vise.. and administer a demise that was slow and painful.. perhaps fitting for the inhuman abomination she grudgingly knew she to be.

"But enough with the thoughts.. " She said allowed to herself amongst the howls of wind and flurries of snow. Slipping her hand from the trigger to where the stock met the reloading mechanism. Holding the weapon at her side as to free her other hand which she then brought towards her face, flattening and holding it sideways against her forehead she began a soft chant, a visible aura of teal beginning to waft around her figure, the runes on her belt underneath her coat brightening up. Out here, an ice based spell could form much faster than normal, a hazard to her as always, but she would use it to her advantage. The gusts of the blizzard particularly around her vicinity began to flow into a single spot before her, merging together in an icy mist. From that mist, the familiar jagged sheet of ice appeared, only this time it grew much bigger. So many resources in the air around her helped to mature it to its final state.

Crafted before her, now was a 5-foot tall 2 inch thick sheet of ice that curved towards its top. Much like the way she operated the one in their prior battle, she manipulated it to her will. Planting it into the snow before her, creating a make-shift barricade, niniva crouched down behind it. "Like the snake in the grass.." she stated almost randomly.. a type of trigger word however. Underneath her Coat, her "Enigma Suit", churned its stealth-based properties. Underneath her coat, it took the color of the snow.. pale white, as now did her coat and hood.. she now matched the terrain more effectively. Niniva then dropped to prone position half-behind her ice barricade.. rifle readied , and armed, pointing towards him as she lay. Her hazel eye settled behind the scope as she took aim. "And so it begins..." She muttered, as her finger tightened on the trigger, not pulling it just yet.

Hakker let out a low whistle, which was completely drowned out by sound of the sharp wind, as he watched the forming of that damned sheet of ice that had made things so difficult for him before. He hummed, realizing all to well that the 'shield' was getting a boost from the cold climate, something he had not anticipated. This, combined with her apparent plan to not even attempt coming close to him could be quite disadvantageous to him. His mind was racing, bullets had a high velocity, their destructive force could break through the barrier, which he used to soften physical blows, with great ease. "Darn it, the fight'll be over before it starts if she has the right bullets..." He grumbled silently, his mind racing as he attempted to find a possible solution to this problem. He had heard stories of people using wind magic to halt bullets, but he doubted that, even if those stories were true, he'd be able to achieve such a feat.

"But what if I don't have to halt it?" He thought, an idea popping into his head. "This sharp wind, combined with that..." He murmured, grinning like an imbecile. He unsheathed his sword, examining it as he pondered for a few moments, before letting it slip from his grip, causing it to fall onto the thick layer of snow, before slowly disintegrating, eventually vanishing from sight. His kite shield followed soon, making a rather deep impression into the snowy surface before disappearing. His left hand reached up, rubbing the back of his neck over the cloth of his hood, as his right hand stretched out to his side. "It's the one directly to the southeast..." He said silently, his fingers tensing. The snow at the crash site in that direction was blown violently into the air, and a spear shaped object flew from the snow, coming to rest in Hakker's right hand. It was a two handed staff.

The weapon had a sleek but simple design, being completely black down it's length. Made from ebony lumber, the lower part of it's completely straight form had no outstanding features, completely black and looking like it was made so for a specific reason. The only distinguishing traits were located at the weapon's tip. No more than an inch above his hand, the weapon was decorated with pure gold, which wrapped around a smooth, strange looking orb, which was a bright green color. His left hand came down, hovering above the staff, which began to emit a faint green light. The light continued to shine for a few moments, vanishing suddenly. The wind grew even fiercer, seeming to flow into the orb set upon the staff. The orb began to shine once more, fiercer than before. With a soft flash, the Red Mage was made aware that the spell was ready for execution and released the staff, which continued to float in front of him. A fierce flash erupted from the staff, forcing the mage to shield his eyes.

The wind grew quiet, it's constant tug becoming non-existent as the light returned to normal. The staff had moved to float behind the mage, seemingly idle until called upon again. In front of him, there came the sharp sound of the wind, but much more local and visible, a constant air current that would redirect any high velocity object slightly, though Hakker was unsure if it would be powerful enough to make any and all bullets actually miss him. He crossed his arms, waiting to see how his enemy would respond.

Her eyes narrowed in on her target.. her prey. How many times had she done this before.. this style reminiscent of a prior acts of murder, an assassins kill. But there was nary a time where Niniva had gone in for a kill, whether with bullet, blade or poison, whilst guards prodded her skin with their blades. Nary a time she had willingly gone into a situation with such miserable odds. With death all around her like vultures simply biding their time.. a faint memory of nervousness settled within her mind.

Cold.. calculated.. She lied there and watched as he cast his spell.. her ears perking to the distorted sound of the wind.. fumbled in with the mighty roar of mother nature, churning her snowfields in her wondrous gusts. In the midst of all these loud noises, it was a challenge to note distinctly which was foreign.. contrived of her target. He had done something with the air. Her breath releasing as an icy mist, as she contemplated the situation. She was at a vantage point.. for all intents and purposes, where she lie now was her best chance at survival. With only normal shot loaded, she poised the reticle towards her targets chest.. this would be a 'test' round. See how the wily mage reacts to a high-velocity shell at medium-far range. With a hand gripping the trigger/base of stock, and the other under the barrel, she strained her finger, pulling to fire. Like a crack of thunder during a storm of rain and wind, it roared aloud, making its voice heard. A flash of fire erupting from the barrel, A hefty puff of smoke emerging from the chamber and wafting into tho winds.

The bullet whizzed through the atmosphere, her rifle was created specifically for this kind of long range shooting. But she could not anticipate the inner workings of his spell. The round hit against that near-transparent area of protective currents, swerving ever more so than her anticipated wind resistance , firing off safely away from him, missing completely. The smoke from the chamber cleared, her eye intent on him all-along from the scope. "Interrupter magic eh?" She said casually to herself, her hand carefully moving from the trigger to the custom reloading mechanism. Thumb flicking to a small lever that rotated the 3-shot revolving chamber, then twisted that lever slightly so the chamber sprung out from the gun, eying her remaining ammo. She pondered her next move.. it would be useless to keep firing into a field that would ensure the bullets mis-destination. Suddenly, an idea flicked into her mind. Lets see what an electrically charged round can do.. She shifted her thumb now to the cylinder holding the next shot. Beginning a soft chant amongst the racket of the environment, particles of snow matting onto the side of her hood as it waved in against her face do the force of the wind.

A light purple aura swirling around her body, converging towards that thumb. Jolts of electricity surged within the hollowed center of the round, charging up. She would pull her finger away and disrupt the full effects of the magic, not wanting to overload the shot and cause a backlash. With a flick of her hand, she pushed the chamber back into the rifle with a clank of metal. Re-adjusting her grip on her weapon and re-taking aim. Faintly she could hear the crackle of the sparks within the shot, she would be wise to let it go off and soon, lest it ignite prematurely.

Pulling the trigger again, the barrel bursting with the quick paced flame, smoke puffing up once again from the chamber; the bullet whizzed towards the redmage, a trail of sparks behind it. Its speed was enhanced, and the electric charge itself might help disrupt the wind barrier... she would see soon.

The mage let a smug grin dance upon his lips, figuring that if nothing else, the fact that he had survived an attack from her with more ease than he had ever before was worthy of a pat on the back. He watched her say something, rather casually, which brought him to high alert. She wouldn't be so calm unless she had been prepared for it. He cursed softly, realizing that he had started to underestimate her again. He knew better now, though, and he wouldn't fall for her attacks so easily again.

He flinched when he saw her lips move again, almost sure that she was casting a spell. He stood there, eyes raised as he wondered what trick she would use this time, but knowing that it would most likely be dangerous, raising his hands in preparation. He raised his eyebrows in disbelief when he felt the faint presence of electricity near the woman. Deciding that he had no time to waste, he stretched his right hand out, causing one of the other crash sites to suffer an explosion of snow, revealing the second object to be yet another staff, looking identical to the one he had used to manipulate the wind only minutes before, with the exception of the orb, which was an electric purple instead of the bright green color the previous orb had. It came to rest in front of him, his right hand hovering above the orb as his left hand began to make intricate motions.

Both hands became surrounded by a faint glow, his left by an Alice blue color, his right with a violet color. He began a quick incantation, the color quickly fading from his hands as it took effect. He gulped as he watched her take the shot, watching the air directly in front of his makeshift shield distort. A thick sheet of ice, not very different in appearance from the one she herself used, formed in midair, quickly explanding until it covered most of the mage's form. Invisible to the naked eye, there was a thin layer of air within the sheet of ice, which he had laced with a high amount of magical energy that would suck the electric charge out of the bullet and forcibly "activate" it. Which meant that, when it had passed through the sheet of ice, the bullet would've been slowed down by the obstacle, as well as lose it's electric charge, which would cause it to get redirected and pass the mage harmlessly, although the makeshift shield would surely crumble after being pierced by such a powerful bullet.

This was not enough for the mage though, as he extended both his hands forward, moving his hands in mirrored motions as the new staff joined it's 'brother' behind Hakker. As his hands continued to move, a faint blue glow appearing around each, the air and more specifically, the snow, to Niniva Aerovine's left and right, began to distort slowly, as if it was trying not to pull any attention to itself.

"Damn.." she muttered, intent on her target, her subject.. her prey. As long as she took him at this angle, there would be not much of a chance at a shot.. and if she got close, it would be almost too dangerous.. but it was beginning to look as if she may have to attempt it. Amongst the hurried wind and rushing snow she had almost not noticed the distorting of the area around her.. "Looks like i ought to move.." She commented, her head shifted away from the scope towards her left. Pulling her rifle up with both hands, she'd make for cover behind her ice barricade. ducking her head down and getting into a curled up position. The seal on the back of her coat brushed to the ice, visibly melting it.. a small indication as to its purpose.

She had to think fast.. she couldn't stick to this position, and he was going to subvert her defense. Then it clicked..

"Maybe if.." She said silently, releasing her hand off the trigger to begin another light chant.. the aura was now a dark blue as she began to cast. Her plan was rather simple, though she would use a spell in a rather unconventional way. Her eyes flaring subtly with that dark blue as she finished her ritual, the aura dispersing as a sudden veil of water shot up straight around her and the ice barrier. Like a geyser it continued, spraying up to 9 full feet in height, enclosing her in this radial aqua stream, which made her image blurry at best. While the initial use of this spell may become handy.. its current purpose began to show. The water soon began to freeze as it gushed. Giving it an almost crystal like look. Frozen in place, with the final bits of droplets falling down as small hail. Niniva was now shrouded and protected by this wall.

The magical properties of this spell however, were different than that of her actual ice spell. Whereas the latter had its energies poised for defense of the physical variety, this water spell did not, it was not its nature to. Therefore the thick layer of frost would not hold out as well to physical attack. However, there was more to it than meets the eye.. and it would serve its purpose.. In this small chamber she made for herself, Niniva set her flattened hand, sideways against her forehead once more. Her lips moving to another spell.. a deep violet aura this time... however it charged slowly. With her free hand keeping her weapon clung across her chest, she tried to focus, hoping only that her defenses would hold out for just a little while..

Hakker raised an eyebrow as the veil of water shot up, wondering what his opponent was planning. His eyes widened as he saw the water freeze from the subzero temperatures, as it clicked in his mind. She was planning something that required her to focus for an unknown amount of time, he realized. He couldn't sense just what she was preparing, but he decided not to take any chances, he'd have to finish her off right here and now. His hands paused for a while, the distorted air and snow quickly changing back to it's natural state. He paused for a while, watching the veil, before he resumed his hand motions, muttering a silent incantation.

Finishing the spell, he smacked his hands together, an object beginning to form in the air in front of the red mage. Letting out a small sigh, he extended his left hand, a new staff forming in his hand. He held it differently than he had the others, more like a spear. This one had once again a different orb, this one being crimson red. Letting a quick spell escape his lips, he ran his hand over the orb, which was immediately set ablaze, burning fiercely. Beads of sweat were quickly forming on his forehead from the casting of a spell in an environment unsuited for it.

As he was preparing his assault, the object in front of him was beginning to quickly gain a new form. It was almost about a feet thick, formed like an arrowhead, three feet wide at the end, the tip poised in the general direction of his enemy. He crawled up onto the ice structure, looking less heroic and more like an old man as he did. He quickly stood up on the arrowhead-like object, raising the staff high above his head, holding it much like a spear. He threw it in a similar fashion directly towards the veil of ice. As the weapon drew closer, the entire staff was set aflame, burning fiercely.

That was his cue for the attack he hoped would finish her. With a quick incantation, a gust of wind blew the large ice structure directly at his opponent. He gulped, realizing that he was headed directly towards something very hard at high speed, and hoped that the ice he had created with magic would be stronger than ice created by frozen water.

The flaming spear-like attack hit first. The tip striking against the geyser of frozen water, A shock wave of magical energy spread as it made contact. The ice melting back to its watery form, converting back to a liquid state across until the entire geyser was water once more, Continuing to flow. However now that it reverted, its primary purpose: magical defense, now held out. The rest of the flame flattened against its field, both of which now essentially canceling eachother out. The water stopped its flow from the ground as it converged on the impact point in an array of streams slithering through the air, dispersing entirely just as the flame did. This exposed Niniva inside, her body now covered in this faint dark aura, slithering along her limbs and body.

The curved ice barricade now was her only defense. crouched under it however, it did enough to take on the impact of that icy arrow. Her barricades primary function being that of a physical defense, it took a fierce crack across its hull from the point of the arrowhead; both of which now caught in a clash. Finishing her spell, eyes glaring in its dark properties as 3 round shadows shot out from under her into the snow field. Without much shadow to cover in, they stuck out pretty well. Her barricade however, now broke down in a sudden shatter of icicles. jettisoning outward in an almost beautiful display of shimmering frost, looking like freshly cut diamond. The remnants of this barricade scattered about the snowy plain, and left Niniva defenseless albeit with the wide-arrow head of her enemy having withstood damage, debilitating it as it slammed through her shielding. Making a large crack of its own across its girth.

As the large makeshift arrow-head approached her from behind, the seal upon her coat would ignite. Glowing in a fierce red. It wasn't made to withstand magical ice however, only that of the natural brand, it would be unable to entirely melt its huge shape, though the radiated heat energy managed to dampen much of the blow. Hakker would find that the crack worsened in the split second of action taking place, widening to the heat, and just before the tip would strike the leather.. it would shattered into large fragments, ruining his balance upon them. But this led to a new danger all together. The fragments spread out, now un-concentrated to an exact point. Much of the remaining pieces flew harmlessly to either side of niniva.. All but two.. and two was all it would take. One jagged fragment easily pierced the coat, inserting its rough edge midback, the slender lance of teal stained in her black blood as it emerged out the other side, Right out from her abdomen. In the same second, the other crashed right under her right shoulder. Both of the fresh wounds steamed as if ignited by fire. Cringing in the pain, Niniva fell forward into the snow, turning onto her side, and pulling up her knees somewhat. Hacking up crude blood onto the pearly white snow.

Small tentacle-like whips of blood spread out and clung against the thick icicle lances. Only to slowly wither and die as they attempted to dislodge them.. losing the hint of life that they had seemingly had. Within her, chaos was ensuing. Her bodies natural biology was destabilizing. The excessively heated temperature of her anatomy began to slowly cool.. deadly to a lucarvi. Her organs and blood..every facet of her chemistry, work at an incredibly fast, heated pace.. the sub-zero frost worked to slow this pace.. which erratically attempted to now free itself, working to worsen the overall condition. With these sharp edges within her.. she would surely die within minutes.

Painfully, she pushed up on one arm. Leaning her upper body from the surface of the snow. No.. this wasn't over quite yet.

The seal upon her coat wasn't broken.. and it continued to heat the fragments.. melting them slowly so. With the seal intact.. she would yet live. She hadn't noticed whether hakker had stumbled into the snow off of his structure, or was walking in to finish the deal.. too lost in her agony. She knew only that she would have to again make distance. This field of deadly cold could not be successfully fought in, under close quarters circumstances. One of the three round shadow made its way under her, letting her fall into its oblivion, closing up she was taken inside. She would emerge in the same lieing position, behind a large rock matted with snow, quite a few meters off, hidden for the time being. Left with only one shadow to her disposal.

Hakker stood upon the arrowhead, a smirk on his face as he drew ever closer to his opponent, mildly surprised that she managed to cancel his first attack, even though it did cost her her primary line of defense. He grasped the staff he had thrown, as it had remained floating in midair, awaiting him, brandishing it as he stared at his now revealed opponent. He was slung from the object as it impacted with the barricade, landing first face into the snow, which cushioned his fall. He groaned as he heard the shattering of ice, his head jerking up at turning to watch at Nini, expecting to see her having successfully blocked his attack.

He let out a sigh of relief as he discovered she had gotten hit, pushing himself upright as he saw her fall to the ground and turn, finding she looked more like a helpless girl than the fierce fighter that had pretty much defeated him before. He held his staff by his side, tightening his grip around it as he realized that she was in no state to fight him. Had he won? He did not know, keeping his distance as he was unsure what to do. "Looks like I got you pretty good." He said, stating the obvious. "Why not surrender? You are in no position to fight anymore and will probably die if you don't see a healer soon." He pointed out, scratching his chin. "I have no desire or reason to kill you." He continued, a grin on his face as he looked away from her, unable to bear watching her attempt and dislodge the shards of ice. "Fighting you is a lot more fun."

The mage did not notice the shadow making it's way towards his opponent, until it was to late. With a curse, he leapt towards the woman, flying over her as she sank into the shadow, groaning as he did. He had not realized that he had in essence been talking to himself, underestimating the severe pain he had inflicted upon her. Standing up once bore, he ground his teeth in frustration, this changed everything. He quickly jumped up, looking around in an attempt to localize her. The snowy terrain had only a few objects for her to hide behind, but what if she was under the snow, or much further away than he could possibly see. Well... He doubted she could move very far, especially with those wounds, so he assumed she had to be within earshot.

The wind grew silent, calming down as if it was commanded to do so. "Niniva Aerovine, I know you're out there!" He exclaimed. "I gave you a chance to surrender, to be spared." He stated, a new staff with an Alice blue colored orb slipping into his hand as he released the fire staff. "It seems you have refused." He continued, once again pointing out the obvious. "As such, I have no choice but to finish you off. You were a good opponent." He complimented, waving his hand. Eight eyeballs formed in midair in front of him, zooming across the battlefield in an attempt to find his opponent. It didn't take them long to locate her behind the rock, vanishing as their use had expired, while the Red Mage held out the staff, beginning a complex incantation.

"This isnt over.. quite yet.." She thought to herself in a haze. The daggers of ice impaled through her body slowly melting away to the coats ardent seal, until they were no more than warm water drenched along her wound. Her biology began to resume its prior course.. death wasn't so imminent anymore. With another hacking cough, she spit up another splatter of her black blood upon the white snow, pulling herself up onto one knee. Vision narrowing as her senses and stability returned. Though this blood leaked out of the corner of her mouth and from the sealing deep wounds.. she'd maintain fighting condition. Her ears perked to the redmage's statement, and preparation for another attack. "Damn this field and its sub zero climate.. damn my genes and the bane they bring to such freezing cold". Despite the continuing fact that doing well amidst such harsh deadly conditions was small, she still yearned to fight and die.. even within this blizzard. She was still quite heavily damaged.. despite the provisions that saved her life and tissue regeneration active on her skin.. but for as long as the coats seal held out, so would she. She set her rifle snug across her back once more. Beginning her own incantation as she raised a flattened hand to lie vertically to her forehead.. her last remaining shadow settling under her by her own mental command. For every spells primary purpose.. there was a secondary, upon this she would rely. A light green aura cast itself upon her as she began her spell, the wind around her churning in a subtle twister. Her coat and hood flailing against her body, flakes of snow whisking from her figure..Her free hand clutching at a blade at her side.. preparing her next move.

Her hazel eyes, though shaded by the hoods hang, glared upon her target. The wind around her began to concentrate around her feet.. the circular shadow below her resonated with her.. spreading out under her, as if ready to engulf her whole. She debated reverting to full lucarvi form.. with all the agility and ferocity that would bring.. but she knew better than to take such a gamble. Reverted, her weakness would only be amplified.. and the possibility of losing control of her temper would be far too costly.

The Red Mage let out a sigh, one hand reaching up to scratch his head as the other remained upon the staff, which was beginning to build up a visible amount of blue energy, forcing the man to divert his eyes from it. He flinched as he felt her building up energy. "Wind? ... What could she be planning, with those wounds?" He wondered silently, unaware that she was recovering from the wounds at a rapid pace. Perhaps a final blow, he mused. Or maybe she was aware what spell he was casting? ... No, that couldn't be it, he had not used it against her before, she couldn't know it.

He looked around the battlefield, considering what he was about to do, how it would effect the environment. "If this attack doesn't take her out, I'll have to try and undo the damage it'll do, lest I lose one of my major advantages..." He cursed, realizing that he had not really thought his plan through. No going back now, though, she was preparing a spell, if he attempted to start a new one, she would probably catch him wide open.

He focused his attention back onto the incantation, a sudden burst of energy flowing from the staff, which forced him to close his eyes lest he be blinded from it, signified that it was ready. With a grin, he turned his attention to his opponent one final time. "Farewell, Niniva Aerovine." He spoke up, beads of sweat forming on his forehead from the intense spell casting, letting the staff slip from his hands.

As it touched down onto the soft snow, it seemed to cause an explosion, throwing up the snow in a wide area around it, which seemed to congregate in front of him as a thick, long wall. It grew to humongous proportions in seconds, thanks to the large amount of snow gliding towards it on the air currents. Eventually, it stopped expanding, by now easily forty feet high and just as wide, while maintaining a thickness of at least ten feet.

It had taken it's toll on the landscape, however, as the snow behind the wall had all but vanished, revealing the frozen and trampled grass below. Hakker panted softly, sweat rolling freely from his face thanks to the intense effort. "Damn, I think I overdid it." He grumbled, attempting to catch his breath. Standing on the frozen grass, he ran his hand over his creation of solid snow. "Crush." He stated in a tired tone, and the snow began to flow directly towards Nini, seeming to be drawn to her exact location, soon evolving into a full scale avalanche, it's deafening sound drowning out even the loud wind.

It wouldn't be a pretty victory, just burying her under snow, but the mage had come to realize that perhaps, attempting to kill her with weapons or shards were not effective. "What are you, miss Aerovine?" He pondered out loud, realizing that soon, he might have to amend that question to the more appropriate 'were'. It was a shame, he thought again, not really a fan of fighting to the death, but he knew that both combatants were to stubborn to give up in this duel. He watched patiently as he saw the avalanche flow further, dragging in more and more snow to avoid losing it's volume.
