their reviews aren't ever relevant anyway, i just don't get why liking any radiohead albums more than the bends automatically makes you a p4k drone

Because I've met a large amount of people who won't even touch anything other than Kid A or OK Computer because of pitchfork. Ignoring that The Bends is a much better, more interesting album than both of them, the fact is that pitchfork drones will always be pitchfork drones. Also, I'm an insufferable a****** when it comes to these things anyway.

the bends is the best because it has street spirit
(and all the other tracks are pretty good too)

I got a chance to re catalog my music into my patented method (softest to heaviest) recently, so I took a few pics of my stuff. The problem is that I ran out of space in my box so I need to upgrade at some point in time.

My order usually is
Ambient > Drone > Folk > misc. "New Age" > Jazz > Classical (none in the box, all are overflow) > Country > Fusion > Progressive Rock > Rock > Stoner > Shred/Hair > Heavy Metal/Doom Metal (due to similarities in type of distortion) > Progressive Metal > Thrash > It gets weird here because it's an amalgamation of modern metal so it's hard to define by heaviness > Death Metal > Black Metal > Blackened Death Metal > Grindcore/Crust/Powerviolence/anything that destroys childrens' ears
The box: show

The overflow is just whatever I couldn't fit into the box. It's also generally more recent than the stuff in the box (though some of the stuff, especially the lee morgan and wayne shorter stuff goes back maybe a year or so) which explains why it's not in there.

Then my records, which I don't have a lot of and usually buy at Amoeba because the prices are really damn good (cheaper than the CD version too!). I'm not a big record guy by the way, I don't care for analog vs digital as long as I have a physical copy.

If you want to know what I specifically have and can't read it, go ahead and ask.

Damn, that's one big-ass collection you got going there, Whim.

I think the only one I recognize is King Crimson, however.

only time i enjoy grindcore is when it is fused with another genre such as mathcore or some electronic element

I've been building it up since late junior high, but it's not that big. I won't consider it large until I fill a wall with em.

Also I'm not surprised, I've been called eclectic...

Grindcore is really fun when you get used to it. The really really good grindcore bands are the ones who can just keep throwing out riffs coherently at every chance. A song by a really great band can have 20 sections that all flow together really well.

the quality of the picture blows, and it's not helpful with all the metal logos.
I wish I had a real camera on me, but whatever.

I dunno, usually the fun riffs are in punk, progressive metal, mathcore, in some cases even deathcore and (dare I say it) djent can have grooving riffs, I just find most grindcore to not really satisfy in terms of things like lyrical content or production value, stuff like that. Not to say I'm outright rejecting the genre, if there was something worth listening to I'd check it out.

great catalog method but I'm curious as to what drone you're listening to that places the genre towards the bottom of your heaviness list
