I dont really see it as much of a deal really, if you dont want to display your gender then dont fill it out, its not that hard. I think I went a whole 2 years without do anything with my profile.

It's for profile reasons, so people can identify you better.

yea, having the gender field at all isn't necessary, but it is a standard thing to include in profiles on the internet. it eliminates confusion about pronouns(he/she/they) before it happens.

Gender should remain a profile field (with an "other" option) since your profile is just supposed to be info about you, not necessarily relevant/useful info

I see no problem with gender, it should be displayed on your profile so people can know how to address you, like what rin said, its better than someone calling you a '' he '' all the time when you actually identify yourself as a female.
