Exactly, because of Ubisoft's betrayal, why putting Rayman? I guess it's just a small recognition.

I'm wondering if Rayman is the Character that's gonna be shown, but Sakurai didn't say it. Since posting trophies of wanted Character means 'confirmed' from the community/people. Or the Character could be Altair from Assassin's Creed... Or I'm going more crazy than usual and just need sleep...

Calling it a betrayal is sort of childish I think. Lots of fans of ray man wanted it to be multiplatform.

But why defend the third-parties when they evidently don't trust Nintendo? Rayman Legends was delayed to september 2013 make it multi-platform when it was technically done for Wii U since february 2013, and take a look at Watch Dogs, Ubisoft's didn't delayed any version of that game because of the Wii U version's late development (the only consolation would be the Wii U version being superior), invariably of the console's hardware. I mean, as Nintendo fans, we're meant to support the company, right? by getting the exclusives titles and the like, but this free promotion is ungrateful, like Konami, they want Snake in Smash Bros. but none of the recent Metal Gear games are scheduled to be released on Wii U. Let's propound this situation between Nintendo and the third-parties like this: How would you feel if you [Nintendo] invite some "fellows" [third-parties] you want to impressed to party [Wii U] organized by you, but in turn these "fellows" organized very crappy parties with leftovers for you or don't invite you at all to their most promising parties and give a better treatment your rivals [Sony, Microsoft and PC]? they pretend you don't exist, but then, given your high status, you managed to organize and even greater party [Super Smash Bros.] than theirs, and all of sudden these fellows want a spot in your party despite being uninvited, but because you are "gentle" you allowed them a spot, but they still refuse to allow you in their parties. That's why I called it a betrayal.

Ubisoft ain't stupid, having Rayman in Smash, even thought it's just a trophy, means a lot for them, because a lot of gaming companies love Super Smash Bros.

I don't really agree with you. I think you're blowing it out of proportion a bit. IMO you should stop treating the characters as company faces and just look at it as a beloved character getting some lime light.

Well, you are partially wrong there, they are called "mascots" for a reason. Though they are not meant to be exactly the company and its will, they are still part of the same and the people behind them. Kinda like terrible parents with innocent-looking children.

Also, calling it a "betrayal" is a little childish but it was a really f***' s*** series of events. The game was effectively completed and they were about a month from launch when they delayed it a little less than a year, to a time when it would have to compete with GTAV, just so it could not be an exclusive. From Nintendo (And Smash)'s standpoint, that's pretty f*** s***. Still, this is a really cool trophy to have. But it seems bizarre they'd license the character just for a trophy. Maybe he's an assist, as well? Like Phosphora? That'd be neat.

To be honest, I totally forgot about the pic today. I kinda thought there just wouldn't be one, since the character is coming. That's a neat surprise

I kinda doubt he'll be playable since Sakurai would probabaly tease the character as opposed to outright showing his trophy (and I doubt he'd be using models made by other companies for the playable characters). I would love for Rayman to be playable though.

Also, the guys who made Legends didn't want the game to be delayed (the series' creator got pretty upset about it as well). That was decided by the higher-ups at Ubisoft and not the team working on the Rayman games iirc.
