Idk if there are any other fans of the genre here on MG, but it is probably my favorite type of music. I probably started listening to it about a year ago and haven't been able to get enough of it. If you are new to the genre or want to get into it I would recommend checking out the following: These albums here are what the emo community would probably agree to be the essential first listens: American Football - s/t Cap'n Jazz - Burritos... Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me Snowing - f*** Your Emotional s*** It would also be a good idea to keep an eye on these labels for future releases: http://www.nosleeprecords.com/http://www.topshelfrecords.com/http://www.cylsrecords.com/http://www.runforcoverrecords.com/http://www.polyvinylrecords.com/http://www.toofargonerecords.com/http://www.birdtapes.com/As for people already into the genre... What are your personal favorite venues, sub-genres, labels, bands, albums, w/e at the moment? What is your opinion on Emo Revival?? Is Emo Revival even a thing??? Feel free to ask questions and discuss

I do too, man.
I will admit that they are a bit over-rated, but black parade really was a good album.

I had some emo phase where I liked emo music
Now I like hard rock because \m/
Sleeping with sirens is ok. Well James dean and if u can't stay were pretty good. But their drummer sucks and Quinn's wasting his time with them. A voice like that gahh.

Girlfriends is sick homie, he needs to release some more s***. And personally, f*** Your Emotional s*** is just ok; it's just that it's considered an essential. Within that sub-genre (skramz) I would recommend: Merchant Ships - For Cameron William Bonney - Good Vibes Midwest Pen Pals - Inside Jokes This style of midwest emo isn't as popular anymore, unfortunately.

good vibes is nice, not really something i'd go back to that often but it was enjoyable
i talked to jerry joiner (the dude behind girlfriends) and he did mention something about possibly doing new music next year and also maybe releasing the first album on vinyl
i wouldn't get any hopes up unless he announces it himself, though

Maybe give it another shot after hearing the other recs? (For Cameron specifically) And that would be sweet, my friend would jump on that vinyl so fast, haha.

When I was full of teenage wangst, emo was a very different thing... At least I get that impression by reading these titles. Of course, maybe I just wasn't... Cutting? Deep enough into the genre? Ha.
Looking back on all that Linkin Park, Evanessence, early Papa Roach... I don't know if I think it was technically good anymre, but I'll be damned if I don't still like it for all the experimenting and the passion. Even those bands listed don't get as crazy into it as they used to.
Though if the single's are an accurate indication, Linkin Park's Hunting Party is gonna kick a**

Got to see Modern Baseball back in June last year, there was probably only like 30 people at the show. Funny to see how far they've come within in a little less than a year.
