I absolutely hate the bright, lighthearted, 2D-3D mixed feel of the new games. Everything is colorful, gameplay is confusing, and every single battle, every single stage, every single soundtrack in generations was butchered to hell and back. Even the shadow rival fight was disgustingly easy, like what the hell.
It's not that I expected any better but this is really the nail in the coffin. It's sad when you consider that the best Sonic game of this gen is Sonic The Hedgehog from '06, which had the s*** camera in the history of s*** cameras, had a furry's-wet-dream storyline AND added another hedgehog.

Purely opinion, and pur opinions differ. I love the 2D/3D gameplay, and while the story was kinda crappy (why didn't Knuckles or Cream or anyone else have any relevance?), but what they did with the stages, what they did witt the music, is awesome. I can tell your not that big of a Sonic fan, because all the fans I've seen love it.

I'm having mixed feelings about sonic generation.

Pros
Replay value:With tons of challenges,collectables and online leader boards, there is a lot to do in sonic generation.
Soundtrack: To sum it up, I could listen to city escape(classic) all day long.
Nostalgia:This may be a bit bias, but the nostalgia I get from sonic generation is amazing.

Cons
Difficulty: Sonic generation is really easy. I found myself getting S and A ranks dispite me dying multiple times in the levels.
Gameplay: Really I don't know why, but the levels in sonic generation don't feel nearly as satisfying as the day levels in sonic unleash. They don't give you a sense of speed unleash did and as a result I feel like I'm going so slow. Your constantly being stopped by obstacles and enemies, and that's not fun.

So your saying because Generations isn't boost to win and doesn't play itself half the time, it isn't as good?

That's not what I'm saying at all, it's just that in my opinion having a sense of speed makes me feel way better then platforming. I do see the appeal of platforming though, it requires a good sense of timing,and reflexes. It can definitely be some people's cup of tea, just not mine.

Fair enough, I guess. Green Hill, Rooftop Run, and City Escape all play very fast though.

I mainly like doing things that I think looks awesome.
Enemies are fine as long as I don't have to slow down and kill tons of them as once.
Platformin, I'm fine with it, just don't like it that much in a 3D plain.
Just speeding down, what ever twirly path, or blasting through s*** with a Sonic boom in front of me, is just my style.
