No, he's saying that there pretty much isn't any difference in gameplay for any of these games.

smh there are big differences.

After playing some rivals of aether, I've decided that's my favorite.
It's like a more combo-intensive version of Melee, and I love it!

I didn't say that, what's YOUR deal? I said games weren't different besides air-dodges, and by that I meant Crusade, Brawl, and Melee. And no, Sonic Mania does not count.

Actually, I haven't played Smash 3DS in a while, and I remember Peach's side-b being faster. Maybe I should play them at the same time and see.
Still, engine may not be what some people consider in this poll.
