GameCube controller adapter stopped working

I plugged it in like usual, black plug on bottom, and it doesn't work...I try black plug on top and it works but slot one is mapped to P2's cursor for some reason. How can this be, and how can I fix it without destroying anything? _________________ I really really need to change my username. Microsoft can't count to nine, let alone ten or 720.
