Those are anti-bot measures. I'm fairly sure our issue isn't with 'bots' anymore, but with people being paid to sign up and advertise on forums.

the middle number one is absurdly easy because it's a set algorithm every single time - just count number of spaces on a row and from there you can easily determine which is in the middle.

I do like to change the registration question every once in awhile, but we already have quite a few bot protection measures in place
