Name (aka Handle):Trey / Tac3 / TAC3 / TacThree
How old are you?:19
Which characters do you play in SSF2? Why do you play these characters? (Note: do not list characters that are not currently in the game):
Captain Falcon because he's the funnest character in the game (and all of Smash). I'm a huge momentum-based player, so doing one cool combo in a game goes a long way for me when I play, and lucky for me, most (if not all) of Captain Falcon's combo are really cool. I also love all of his movement options because they help him a lot when it comes to combo'ing or chasing down people. just about everything about him is perfect for me since I mostly play to have fun and do cool stuff. have mained him ever since he joined the roster in v0.8.
I have a good amount of knowledge about all of the characters in SSF2, but I mostly use falcon if I had to narrow my usage of all of them down to one solid character.
How much experience do you have with official Smash titles? (SSB64, Melee, Brawl, WiiU/3DS. Include in this answer which characters you play/played.):
I've never owned any vidyagaems in my life, so I've only ever gotten a chance to play these games whenever I went over to my cousins' house a couple times each year. Now that I'm in college, I go to the weekly smash events and play mostly Melee and a tiny bit of Brawl. Brawl is fun too, but I only play it casually. I'd love to play Smash4, but I haven't gotten the chance to touch it yet lol. I also play Melee a lot with my 5 other roommates. The characters I play are Captain Falcon, Fox, Falco, Peach, Marth, ICs, Ganondorf, Jigglypuff, and Pikachu... pretty much anyone tbh, but those are the characters that I can remember using more frequently.
Have you ever attended any Smash tournaments? If so, give some details about the tournament (number of participants, which games, etc). How well did you place?I attended the first official SSF2 tournament in Indiana and placed 1st out of 21 participants. Demo v0.9B (before all the patches). payed entry fees for me and some other players as well because bigger tournaments are more fun. used a bunch of characters, but people will commonly remember me using Peach and Lloyd for the most-part at the tournament.
When did you start playing SSF2?Started playing SSF2 in its v0.1 era, but didn't play it competitively until it's v0.5 era. I remember most facts about the game between its different versions, but mostly from v0.6 onward.
What is your favorite stage in SSF2? Explain.Dreamland: Layout is nice, and the platforms are less dumb than Battlefield's platforms because they allow for more space and freedom when choosing how to style on the other player. Battlefield is lame because the proportions of the platforms make some characters (Jiggleypuff for example on a full-hop) sort of teleport onto the platform abruptly, possibly ruining combos or being abused by players to reduce lag after a rising aerial move and whatnot.
Yoshi's Story: my favorite stage in general because the platforms are like Battlefield's arrangement minus the buggy platform teleport crap. Also think that Randall allows for players to coordinate with the stage (since he's not random) and work with their environment in order to do combos and take stocks, or to just survive in general.
honestly a tie between the 2 here. can't choose which one I prefer.
Who, in your opinion, should be placed first on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a higher level than all others?Zero Suit Samus• suuuuuper effective zoning tools (makes it very hard on characters to even get close to her without either getting swat away or trapped)
• although pretty linear recovery, it's still really good and pretty difficult to gimp or stuff-out with moves.
• most of her moves have boxes on them that are deceiving compared to her visuals and general impression on how certain moves generally work. Examples: Grab is active ang lingers for longer than it actually looks like it should, F-smash covers both sides of her and isn't easily punishable on sour-hit, whiff, or shield; (same for Side Special). down special has active attack boxes only a few frames after being invincible, plus the attack box is also deceiving in size (it only leaves her head and the arm with the gun vulnerable during the attack), move also lingers for a slightly absurd amount of time imo. Jabs in general, but to a much lesser extent have a good amount of range that doesn't seem to look proper.
• has combo breaker moves (n-air, down special, up-special+jump, and jab to an extent). Extremely huge in the meta since if people can't combo you, then the only thing they can rely on is some sort of frame trap, pokes, or camping.
• probably has one of the best weights in the game
• frame traps with her down-smash and neutral-special coupled with her grab moves in order to crete some above average combos.
• really good range (but what else would you expect from a tall humanoid figure with a laser whip)
Who, in your opinion, should be placed last on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a lower level than all others?MegaMan• a huge majority of his tools are just super gimmicks that are easy to adapt to.
• recovery is more gimp-able than Ness' recovery.
• has no good zoning tools (since most of his attacks are projectile-based) that are hard for other players to adapt to (super important ince this is what neutral game revolves around in SSF2 tbh).
• pretty much has had his approach dwindled down to short-hop f-air for a reliable entry (in the end, this makes him predictable).
• can't really combo much at all at the moment.
although again, it's pretty hard to tell in general since he's still able to perform well in-game compared to the majority of the roster.
If you could make only one change to SSF2 as it currently is, what would it be and why?Give more universal options for movement since it'd add more flair to combos and to the neutral-game. (not talking about wavedahing, but little things like wall-jumping and back jumps out of run, etc.) IMO, it would reduce the useage of camping for the whole game (which isn't honestly that viable anyway) and increase the amount of creativity as well as options for neutral and approach.
What is your view on items in competitive play? Not sure if I'm expected to say "items should not be used in competitive play" or not, but I agree with items being banned in competitive play anyway, so whatever. This, however, doesn't mean items can't be used competitively or under a competitive setting (see: Peach Down-Special). I think all players should have a good feel on how items work so that they can easily deal with them when they show up and have to be dealt with in a game.
Do you have or can you download Skype? You don't need a mic or webcam.Yea, I have Skype (look under my MG Forum account info if you wanna hmu)
Why do you want to join the Smash Flash Back Room? What will you contribute? Why are you an exceptional applicant? Be as detailed as possible.Wanna join because I feel like it's time I get more involved in the community in general and I think this might be a step in the right direction. Currently an effects artist and balancer for SSF2, so I'd be able to drop some technical facts and techniques that were added to the game that the general public may not even know about. plus, it's easy for me to look up frame data and hit box data lol. I'm also a graphic design major at my college and super organized, so I'd be willing to help produce charts and stuff that the BR helps put data together for.
