It means Of God, in, you guessed it, Latin, and is included more often than not in Angel names. For example, Gabriel, Raphael, Barachiel, are all Archangels. Er is the same idea for Demons, Terran and Lucifer being the two you can see. After dying on Earth and becoming an Angel, a new name is given to you. Not all are super meaningful, but it makes for a good naming convention. Joel, Rachael and Gael are all real names ending with it, while Jaciel and Demitriel are me just finding names that don't look or sound dumb. Jace and Demitri, what they would more often be called, are IRL names.
Also, while Cole is a real name, remember he uses ice powers. He's cold.TLDR; it has canonical reason for being meaningful, Latin is angelic because religion, Cole is dumb joke. | | | | |
El does not mean "god" or "of god" in Latin, likewise the same thing with "er" which I assume you are relating "Lucifer", literally it means light (luci from lux) and bearer (fer- fero, ferre, tuli, latum - to bring, bear, carry). Just letting you know for the sake of clarity.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_(god) Apologies, El is Hebrew, but some other things are Latin. Regardless, nearly every named Angel in any vaguely biblical text ends in -el, like Michael (Who is like God?), Raphael (God Heals) and Uriel (Light/Fire of God). Not to mention El Shaddai (God Almighty). I could easily go on for a while, but you get the idea. I get the naming scheme from this, and occasionally give the "canon" angels abilities based on their names. Speaking of which, in El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, a game surprisingly focused on some of these guys, has Pre-Fall Satan as a good guy. His name? Lucif el. I trust the judgement of these guys. It may not originally mean the kind of thing I'm talking about, but re-translations and different interpretations are rampant around biblical things like this.

I personally wouldn't, because that name makes no sense whatsoever lol Just as long as you know the difference, don't want any plot-holes ^.~

I don't really see why not. With all the research and motifs they took from the Book of Enoch, I would imagine that such a huge detail (He was a main character) wouldn't be overlooked like that.

Frame 1 of my current animation. Open to improvement suggestions. I fell the torso and arms could probably be improved somehow, but I can't place it. If everything goes according to plan, she'll do a reverse roundhouse kick along with another with some motion blur or effects. Legs and legs only are skeletoned/heavily edited from Remy from Street Fighter (Standing Far HK), but I plan on diverging on a lot of the frames, for example Remy's first frame has him facing backwards.

Guess who found the Airbrush feature? Anyway, I think this turned out pretty well. I deviated a bit from what I was going for, but it still turned out better than I thought it would. Definitely looks better with the flames IMO.

Maia, the Black Mage to Marion's White. Fully custom sans colors. Tried for posing on my own, and turned out better than past attempts. Fixed a couple of spare green pixels here.

The animation looks nice. The biggest thing I'd work on would be the colors; on many lesser quality monitors it's hard to tell the shades apart at times.

On many higher quality monitors it's hard to tell the shades apart. It's something I'm trying to improve, but I never have enough contrast on anything. I was actually trying to find some help online when I saw this.

Keep in mind it's not all about how light or dark a color is; it also has to do with tint and saturation. Personally, I like to make the darker shades more saturated than the more light-neutral shades. Even if your attempts appear uncomfortably dynamic it's still something to work on, show, and get critiqued on.

Hopefully sharpened the contrast on these. Pants and shirts on both should be more distinguished if I know what I'm doing. Also, a King to match the other old style sprites.

Baphomet.Solve, Latin word meaning to separate, and Coagula, a Latin word meaning to join together, are written on either wrist. Naturally, that means scythes and shadow chains grow out of them. The kilt leaves a bit to be desired, but I like how the rest turned out.

Messed around with an outline I found/shrunk/edited and wound up with this.
