His attempts to parry the blow had succeeded, but his victory was short-lived. The paladin had erupted a smoke bomb, fogging the area. Daryl shifted his gaze to the side quickly as he struggled to keep sight of the opponent. The land was completely shrouded however, and he lost sight quickly. The other man had said something, but it was lost in the night air.

Daryl was now alone in the smoke, it seemed, for he did not sense the presence of the other man. He, too, would have to exit the cloud. The substance was entering his lungs, on top of covering his vision. Coughing, he backed up to the outside breeze, but did not see the paladin. Perhaps the man had exited on the opposite side of the smoke. He trudged through to the other side, and called out a command to his wyvern. The beast made a lunge at the man's leg, but would likely miss. She was still in immense pain.

His eyes quickly widened, turning his head frantically to find the wyvern. By now, it was nearly at his leg as he attempted to get out of the way. The wyvern's teeth scraped across, leaving a cut. Gritting his teeth in pain as he swiped blindly with his sword, hoping to hit the wyvern. "Two on one isn't very fair!" As he landed on the ground, missing the wyvern completely, he took a dash at the man hoping to take him out as their weapons clashed.

Daryl smiled with satisfaction. The wyvern's lunge had connected, cutting across the enemy's leg. Surprise quickly replaced any smug emotions he had contained. Although the man had fallen back, he took a slash at Daryl's mount. Sighing in relief as it failed to hit its mark, the young man watched as the paladin fell to the ground. Was his opponent weak enough to be finished already? His question was answered with haste as the man rushed towards him. Daryl swung his axe, and he locked the weapon with the sword. He grabbed onto the handle with his spare hand. He would need all the strength he could get to overpower the other man. He began to thrust the weapon forward in an effort to catch his enemy off guard.

"Watch yourself." Rolland commented, kicking at the man's leg while his entire body was focused on the clash of the two weapons. "You're open!" The kick was aimed at his knee cap, as Rolland pulled his blade back, and ducked. Rolland intended to change the way he was fighting, he would soon become more reckless. He wasn't going to take his own advice, and watch himself.

Perhaps things were about to look up. If he was able to best his opponent in this clash of weapons, he might have been able to make a strike. Unfortunately for Daryl, this plan had gone quite awry. A well-aimed kick had nailed his knee, causing him to lose his stance, and giving the paladin a chance to pull away his weapon. Daryl attempted a swing at his opponent's head from his crouching position, but his axe met only the air. His knee felt wobbly. His stance would be unstable from here on out.
