Before I say anything else, if this somehow goes against the rules, feel free to lock it mods.

Now, one day I was thinking about the chances of Big Boss (from Metal Gear) getting into SSF2 (as I'd much rather prefer him than Solid Snake as a Metal Gear representative since he's much more integral to the series as a whole). I did some research and found out that the games he primarily starred in weren't released for any Nintendo consoles (except for the first few MGS games where Solid was the protagonist and Big Boss was a bad guy), so I saw his chances as pretty bad; if anything, worse than Solid's or even Liquid's. Or even dare I say, Ocelot's.
Then it came to me: what if the Nintendo rule did not apply for SSF2?
You guys know what I'm talking about: the golden rule where a character/stage/item/etc must have had at least one appearance in a game released for a Nintendo platform in order to be included in SSF2, or any other Smash Bros game for that matter. I'm sure alot of you have thought of this before.

So basically, here you discuss content that could have possibly made it into SSF2 had the rule not existed.
However I should probably clarify a few things first:

1). Don't get TOO carried away. Think of this a sort of "wishlist". We want to have fun discussing these things, so silly ideas, sure, but not STUPID (e.g yourself as a playable character, or things like Muslim Sonic). If you really need to say how someone like John Cena or Shrek would really benefit SSF2's fanbase and roster, the "SSF2 Fantasies Thread" section is the place for you. I doubt most of you guys will pull off that kind of stunt, so if you're not like that, have fun!

2). This should be obvious: BE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER. Self explanatory. If you want to criticize, do it politely. No immature whines, mean stuff, cheap potshots at things you know other people would want and all the like, unless you wanna be grilled by everyone for our next midnight snack.

3). Kind of optional, but state your reasons. I'd classify this as a "semi-formal" section, so for each idea try to say why said idea would be great for SSF2 (e.g variety, "completeness", humor [like I said, silly things are fine], surprises, etc). You don't have to do this if you want to simply get your opinion out there, but it'll spice up the discussion a bit.

Cloud Strife I guess. Most notable Final Fantasy character that's not part of a generic species/job (Chocobo, Moogle, Black Mage), but hasn't appeared in a Nintendo game (I think).

Honey the Cat from Sonic the Fighters would be a really fun character that doesn't abide by the Nintendo Rule lol. Sonic the Fighters was only in Sonic Gems Collection for the GameCube and Honey wasn't exactly a legitimate character until the Xbox Live/PSN/Steam HD version was released.

I know Cloud appeared in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy for 3DS, but that's obviously not a main-series Final Fantasy game. Pretty sure he's been in a few more tho

The protagonist from Persona 3 (or Makoto Yuki/Minato Arisato as he's more commonly known).
The Persona series are pretty popular RPGs, and I'd pick him out of all characters spanning across all games only because he's more recognizable and famous as a representative of the series as a whole (I wouldn't mind Yu Narukami from Persona 4, Tatsuya Suou from Persona 2 or one of the Velvet Room staff either). Plus I think he'd have a very unique moveset consisting of sword attacks and summoning different kinds of Personas and whatnot. I'd even create a moveset for him in the "Expansion Character Moveset Speculation" section, but Nintendo rule prevents it.

EDIT: Turns out he's in a spin-off game called "Persona Q: Shadow of The Labyrinth" released for the 3DS, but I wouldn't really count that as it's more of a crossover game rather than an actual official title in the main series, even though it's stated as canon.
