I really need to restart FFXIII from scratch, sooner or later... I just really never got to liking the combat system(f*** TIMED BATTLES), the characters (except for Sazh) or the fact that I felt so railroaded... Soooo much of that game left me with a bad aftertaste.

Yeah those timed battles can go f*** themselves :x

I can think of a few other rpgs that railroad you with the story, though they arent relevant here, so i wont mention that fact further. But yeah, the story is hugely confusing first time through (maybe that was intended for replay value purposes haha).

The game was still fun for me, mostly just the battle systems, and how fast the game is (for a Final Fantasy game anyway). XIII-2 made the battle system even better, especially with faster Paradigm(Optima) Changing. However the fact that there's only two playable characters, and the third slot taken by a captured monsters leaves very little variation character wise (a problem also shared by X-2)

Final Fantasy I is technically before V (Gilgamesh's first appearance). Even though that game you mentioned is a remake/port.

Im just spouting nonsense, but that could be a reason why it wasnt included there.

Another reason could be that the GBA FF1 came out before the theme became a staple for his appearances (i dont know when the game came out im just saying), as far as i know, Gilgamesh is the first Final Fantasy character to get the same theme across multiple media (not entirely sure about this one), so maybe the idea wasnt set when FF1(GBA) was released.

Oh, thats right, completely forgot about that.

However, Chocobo is not a character, rather a recurring species.

While I feel that it would probably only work as a crossover with VII, VIII, and/or XIII, that would still be interesting.

Thad't be amazing with VI.
Having Final Fantasy elements with Fallout would be badass too!

But do those chocobo characters have the theme, i dont think they do. Captured chocobos dont count as characters, to be a character, you have to be able to interact with them, not necessarily talk to them, but if you can do something with them other than using them as a mount, which is what chocobos were for most of the time.

Well Gilgamesh is the first and only character who is always the same character who he was in a previous FF game (except his XI incarnation). Chocobos and moogles are recurring creatures in the series, but they are always different in each game where the appear.

Gilgamesh was a totes different person in IX.

He was still somewhat involved in a search for Excalibur (II) at least.

FFXI turned him into a pirate leader who's rather serious and in no way, shape or form looking for Excalibur, though.

And Moogles were only introduced in FF3, they're not present in 1 & 2. And chocobos are missing from FF1, as well. (except in the remakes, where they appear in the shape of statues)
