My laptop is pretty old now, and it's not only behind today's standards but is steadily dying, so I'm saving up for a new laptop. I want one that is reasonably powerful by today's standards, and is able to run most high-end software. And by that I mean it isn't going to lag when I open Flash and Photoshop at the same time, and also that I should at least be able to run something like Bioshock.
On the other hand, I don't want some godly piece of technology that costs a fortune.
So what laptop should I be looking at getting?

Laptop? Gaming?
AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

In all seriousness, just get one with a relatively s*** GPU but i5-i7ish CPU and like 1.5 GB of ram. Should be cheap and do what you want (xept the Bioshock, probably.)

I know if I want an all out gaming computer I should get a desktop. I didn't ask for a gaming PC, I just asked for one that can play games relatively well.
Thanks though.

Like any relatively new laptop you get will be able to run a lot of games. You're probably not ever going to be able to play any game on highest settings, but my friend has a couple year laptop that can run SC2 on low-medium settings.

Wrong! Me and my cousin recently built a laptop that can out perform most desktops.. Although I really wouldn't called what we've created very... portable... But if we stripped off some of the external pieces that make it hard to carry, it would still be powerful enough to run high end games on high...
