Back in around 2012-2013, they decided on the roster for characters. This basically means no characters will be changed due to results, and the secrecy is designed to fuel speculation.

There was an original somewhere, might be on the wiki, just ask Byllant, and when they changed it from the original 2008 roster (before you ask, Daisy was not there), they explicitly stated any character who is already in the game would not be cut in a later demo.

Wow, so around the same time when Smash 4's base roster was decided upon!

Us Daisy fans have certainly grown in number since then!!! I wonder if they can add characters late in development...

That's a great idea and all, but you know who we really need in SSF2? Meeguh Moon. A lot of people really want him in based on that one fan poll that was on the very last result on Google. A lot of people would just dismiss him as a yellow and brown Mega Man, but he really has a lot of potential for a truly unique moveset. Everybody make sure to check out my new wiki called "We Are Meeguh Moon" and if we band together, we can force McLeodGaming to add him in against their will.

Ummm hello?! Are you people insane!? How could you guys miss out on the most underrated, unnecessarily hated character of all time: Weegee!!!
I simply can't understand why people hate on him so much! Weegee, as a meme, would drastically increase SSF2's popularity with kids like me who play nothing but g-mod all day, and because he stems from an educational Mario game, even teachers will become attracted to SSF2!!!

Look, those folks over at Crusade had the right idea in his inclusion; in fact everyone mains him, myself included!! Why can't the SSF2 devs follow their flow and build upon such a great idea?? Can't people simply see that he isn't just a crappy, unnecessary, pointless Luigi clone? All he needs for an original, unique moveset is that unnerving stare and voila!! I even have an idea from the Weekly Weegee Weekee I created last week below of the effect that his powers could have upon his opponents, and loads of people agree with me that this would be absolutely perfect; ask anyone you like:
