-He has very bad mobility options. His running speed is the third lowest in the game, as is his max air speed. He also has the lowest air speed deceleration in the game, making it harder for him to reverse his momentum when compared to characters like Wario and Purin. Combined with his floatiness and lack of range, he lacks decent approach options, giving him a rather terrible neutral game.

-He puts too great of an emphasis on hard reads for getting kills. He has a very hard time comboing into his kill options, due to their overall lagginess and bad range. Against anyone who knows the MU, Kirby has an extremely difficult time landing these hits, giving him very little in the way of reliable kill options. Combined with his floatiness (4th lowest fall speed, 8th lowest fast fall speed) and his weight (3rd lowest), he tends to die a lot more often than his opponent.

-His defensive options are pretty terrible. His OOS options are very limited, and his grab has virtually no followups whatsoever. His getup attacks have no invincibility and are punishable.

So yeah. All he really has going for him is his recovery and his tiny size. All of the other characters above him actually have at least one thing that is disproportionately good in comparison with the rest of their tools, but Kirby doesn't really have anything, which puts him in the same boat as Sora. So yeah, in my honest opinion, he's the 2nd worst character in the game right now.

Because he was legitimately broken in 0.9a. Almost infinite recovery, free approach option, stupidly fast, good KO power. Light Dash could literally be spammed in neutral with little to no opputunity to punish.

Yep this confims that maybe the SSF2 Devs need to develop the C-Tier characters more and actually take the time to look at the characters as a whole. But that's just me.

(replying to darkermac) What do you mean kirby has no followups from grab? Dthrow can usually follow up wih usmash (ez di read) which can lead into uair juggles. Bthrow can lead to bair depending on DI and percent. And fthrow can chain into itself against heavys.

You can actually just quote Dark Ermac. But uhh, I expected Kirby to be like one-two spots higher or so, but it's ok. The tier list seems fine for now.

Just as a BTW, The bottom-tier characters aren't really that bad. Each of them is competent in their own way, but usually what restricts them the most are specific bad Match-Up's, like vs. .

MUs dont really matter imo, but if they did, Sora, Sonic, and Wario definately deserve bottom 3.

MUs definetly matter. Otherwise, Wario would be way higher. He is a good character, but has absolutely terrible MUs against the whole roster. And if you cant beat anyone, you wont get high in the tier list.

Wario doesn't lose super hard to that many characters. His issue is that his worst matchups are against the best characters.

Wario v Kirby is horrible for Wario.

I'm not certain that I've ever played this particular matchup, but I have a hard time buying that Kirby - Wario is terrible. That seems like one matchup in which camping for farts is actually rather viable, for one thing. Guess I'll have to try it out at some point.
