Being gracious in victory is relatively easy, I think, compared with being gracious in defeat. Because losing can indeed be quite upsetting - perhaps the loss was due to lag, or a disadvantageous Match-Up, or something else. And it definitely could feel like victory was so close in grasp - you might even have been more skilled than your opponent (or at least you think you are). But unfortunately, despite trying your best, you lost. Your opponent's pretty nice about it - he tells you you played well and all that, but still, there remains that salty feeling.
Which you know, is alright every now and then. But sometimes people get legit upset at each other, which is no bueno. I think it'd be nice if we, as a community, strive for graciousness even in defeat. It helps promote a more positive community in which opponents are not adversaries but rather friends, and we should be friends, because we play Smash together for funsies lol
I think here are a few questions/ reflections which might be helpful when trying to deal with losing.
-If I lost because of lag, then, was I the only one to have to go through the lag? Did the lag also affect my opponent, perhaps more than it affected me? -If I lost because the opponent was abusing the same move over and over again, was the move un-counterable? If not, were they simply optimizing their character? How could I adapt in future matches to better deal with similar situations? Was the move actually broken, or did I just not deal with it as well as I could have? -If I lost because the Match-Up was hard, or because the opponent's character was stronger than mine, could I have instead played a different character? Or perhaps, is there more going in my favor in the Match-Up than I currently realize and take advantage of? -How does my opponent feel about winning? Would they feel like their win was legitimate, and why or why not?
At the end of the day we're here to have fun lol You are, and so is your opponent, and while losing (especially in a tournament) can be salt-inducing, let's not forget that our opponents were and are our playmates, and we're all here to play together lol

I cant express how many spammers I lost to. But the satisfaction of beating them feels SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD. Another thing, you sound like my homework. Go away homework.

Had a quick read, thanks for the advice 135 . I must admit that I lose a lot partly because I main a low tier(Peach) and that I solely use her with no secondaries whatsoever(unless it's just for fun). My w/l ratio is probably negative by now lol.

I lose alot but i quickly get back up for revenge against the CPU (Yeah, I barely have any friends to play with, mostly because they were turned down by several of the current stages in 0.9b)

Nice post bro. I can get pretty salty at times, so this was a good reminder for me. Another useful tip is to imagine one year ahead of now. Will that loss affect you then? Will you still be pissed about it? If that a loss hits you that hard then, chances are, you shouldn't be playing Smash or any game with some form of competition for that matter.

I blame myself everytime.
I hate my own mistake. And how I screw up BM's playstyle, yet I'm still considered the only good BM player. It saddens me.

I would play BM to help you out Drarky, but my BM will probably be total s*** regardless of whether I main him or not, so you're still on your own. BM dittos maybe sometime.

P'shaw, Peach is not a low tier, only on the official list you can beat a lot of good players with Peach if you train hard enough. Being a low tier in her case is not a valid excuse....usually

Remember that aMSa got top 8 at Apex 2015 with a character that people thought had near-unwinnable matchups at a high level. SSF2 is a lot more balanced than that, and you should really just focus on optimizing your play.
