people who go in-depth analyzing sakurai's speech patterns are retarded
he speaks very little english, all of the captions for pic of the day and similar material is translated, possibly not always even by the same person. it's very unlikely that any hints are being given through the exact wording of his posts.

By no means do I agree with that guy, but you'd have to think translators would know whether Sakurai is referring to the characters by name or not, so that particular pattern can still be determined despite the original posts being in Japanese. Unless the translators are for some reason withholding that information.

lots of things like that get lost or deliberately changed in translation because certain phrases and most sentence structures can't be literally carried over between two different languages, especially between two that are as radically different as English and Japanese

That's certainly true in most situations but I don't think it's that serious in this case. If they want to carry over a meaning I'm sure they will. If it's not important then yeah it'll probably be changed to whatever is most convenient.

Well that's the thing, I think speech nuances like the ones being mentioned in the video wouldn't be deemed as important enough to try and create a direct literal translation, and instead we're probably getting a lower effort 'general meaning' translation. Either way it'd be inconsistent, and it's therefore meaningless to look for those kinds of patterns.

Like imagine if they showed a Donkey Kong stage and they were like A BOSS WILL POP UP HERE TOO and it showed K. Rool's foot and shadow. (not the best example but bear with me). I don't think anyone would try to justify him being playable.

I would like it if he became playable, but I see he has a little chance because he hasn't been in a big DK game in a while. Well a lot of characters haven't been in games for a while so this reason goes out the window.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Ridley though (although I actually do not want him anywhere near playable to be honest), for there is just as much hints/evidence that supports his appearance as playable as there are reasons why he wouldn't be playable... Look at pacman, palutena and toon link... Sakurai trolled the hell out of those characters... lol and they were added with even less evidence supporting their appearance.

Sakurai could have just confirmed Ridley was stage boss at direct... I mean Ridley was already a boss in the last game, so why tease him as a boss in this one?

Except he wasnt shown as a boss, he will most likely be either a background character or a stage hazard.

So who is going to be maining Palutena?
