Super Mario Galaxy is now one of the Nintendo Selects,is SMG basically the same as SMG2?(I might buy it if it's different from SMG2 since I already have SMG2)

The only true similarity is the game engine; aside from that, Super Mario Galaxy 2 improves upon the original in nearly every aspect. If there was anything to loathe about, it would be that the look and the feel of the first game translate perfectly, though similarly, over to the sequel, and that might keep you from becoming amazed at the game's innovation. Still, you've played Super Mario Galaxy 2 beforehand, so the original will probably not seem as impressive; there's no reason not to play both, because they're both excellent games, but in my humble opinion, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has smarter level design.

Yeah since Nintendo lacks DLC! SMG2 would have never exist!

No. Like I said, they're very similar because the engines are the same, so in a way, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is just an improved version of Super Mario Galaxy. So in terms of, say, the general gist of the game, not much changes, but there's also a bunch of new stuff going on.

Better idea: go buy it and see for yourself.
