Acyually, from what I've understood Doc Ock was -this- close to being in game, but replaced by Nathan Spencer last minute (courtesy of Capcom).

I'd prefer Venom or the Green Goblin as Spider-Man DLC though, but that's just me.

I also hope we get some male Darkstalkers as DLC, I believe Jedah won't be in because his specials would be too bloody, but I still have high hopes for Lord Raptor. Maybe even Huitzil or Jon Talbain.

Really? Ah well, I prefer Spencer to be honest.

Venom and Goblin are probably more well known, but from what I've seen they are looking at unique characters, Doc Ock's the more unique out of the 3.

Wouldn't say that actually, Doc Ock only has his tentacles and Shuma-Gorath is already there to please the Japanese fanbase.

Goblin has diverse weaponry that could be worked out in an unique moveset.

They put Zero instead of Mega Man because Zero is just MegaMan but better.

Maybe the reason why megaman(original) is not in MvC3 is that they might not want to mess him up in 3D form for he remain a 2D character in all the games he appeared in and they do not want to upset the megaman fans or creator himself wil be upset.
