The mechs remind me of Kirby's Dream Land 2+3, with adding new things to existing abilities and that.

Remember that 3D Kirby prototype that was cancelled along that cancelled Gamecube Kirby game which ended up being Return To Dream Land? Apparently, we're getting a game mode inspired by it.
The stages kind of remind me of Kirby's Dream Course, a great game indee... OMG IT'S THAT MASHER!? DID THEY JUST BROUGHT HIM BACK FROM DREAM LAND 2!? HYPPPPPEE....

Why can't we just have the Super Star format with simple abilities and helpers? Or that one game that had you mixing abilities in his stomach and make new ones out of them?

the new kirby games literally copy the super star format except for the helpers. And while Squeak Squad had the mix abilities thing it really wasn't that practical a** al the mixes were pretty damn bland compared to kirby 64. and kirby 64 was a formula that i personally felt was great but needed work

the 3d thing looks neat but the fact that he never uses any powers in the video makes me think you can't in that mode

which is a shame, that'll make it feel underexplored. I get it, remaking all the powers like that would be a lot of work, but still f*** you

I hunch that Hal is adding that mode to see how would people react to a fully 3D Kirby game (Air Ride doesn't count) and see if they can make it a full game of its own.
Also cactus, the reason why Return to Dream Land took 11 years to come out was because the helper system was too complex to work on 4-player.
Buuut seeing how this game only supports 1-player in the story mode, I also think they should bring back that system.

Well the formula for super star is pretty much what set the standards of the Kirby game series for many, since the gameplay provided is what put kirby's abilities(At the time) the pinnacle of prior-kirby games. While 64 had a very interesting take on the turn of Kirby and the combination of abilities. It wasn't really much of a favorite, it's rather unfair that there are other Kirby games have a different format though they don't really seem to be the de-facto. Kirby style.

While I love Epic yarn, the Super star formula is really, really, REALLY, beginning to show itself more and more. I can stand it in Super Star Ultra (Game that introduced me to the series) though all Ultra really did was put a bigger picture on kirby's assistance and introduced the newer breed of Kirby enemies and reviving a few forgotten faces.

Err, back on topic. lost mahself!

Though bouncing around to Air Ride,Epic Yarn, Return to dreamland, Multi-attack, and so on... There's quite a lot to say where the kirby face should stand. Though I do enjoy that the kirby games actually are trying different things every other game, it's very refreshing and an interesting change of pace.

All I hope is that we get a fully-3D Kirby game some day. And not a game for portables for once.

Kirby in full 3D would to be honest be really weird. it only worked in air ride because the entire game was built around the vehicles.

Kirby's float would literally break the game unless they put a ceiling in every level. also unless they limit the jump to like to smash levels of jumping. and the combat just wouldn't fit kirby because of the nature of copy abilities. they would either have to fill the area with tons enemies or limit it in a very unfortunate way for a 3D game.

on top of it all if they tried to do say a Mario 3D world style. the gameplay would once again be weird with kirby stlye gameplay and puzzles. you would basically be playing 2D kirby but slower and clunky.

I have no idea what you're saying. Why would the float break a 3D game when it didn't break the 2D games? Why wouldn't the copy abilities be redesigned to work in a 3D space? Baron I don't even know what you're talking about in that last sentence

You're gonna have to break that down a little more

Kirby + 3d = I see no harm in this.
