It's actually referred to as an "up attack" when talking about SSF1.

Character: Mario

Mario's Attacks

Fireball: shoots a fireball. Very spammable.

Punch Combo: Punches twice. Good finisher.

High Kick: Kicks upward. Launches opponent straight up. Excellent finisher.

Slide Kick: Slides forward like Mega Man. Good combo starter.

Mario Tornado: Spins. Good finisher.

Additionally his jump is an attack.

This game was the s#%$& back in 2006!

I played through the entire thing and 100%'d it without using any cheats, but then the site it was on was terminated and I had to start all over.

Getting Inuyasha was absolute balls because Master Hand kept hitting me through the stage or slapping me straight up to death at only about 20%...

The worst part about that game, even more annoying than having to beat the entire game with all the starters in BOTH modes to unlock 2 characters, was fighting the army of G&W in All-Star, considering that they can KILL THE PLAYER IN 1 HIT and don't have a handicap so it's like fighting 30 regular opponents who don't die until 100%...

This game was the s#&% from back then and I've beat the game like five times or so. It wasn't very hard from back then, it was a game during my childhood, and I still play it to this very day. So blue, I'm sure you'll beat the game later on when you try and try again.

I think I got carried away on my last sentence.

*Bump!*

I'm posting this I previously shared on SSF2 General Topic for people who didn't have the chance to read it there, now could. I was browsing the old forums, looking for the first instance Super Smash Flash ever got mentioned and that was back in 2005, when I had no idea McLeodGaming ever existed. Cleod made this ironic comment about Super Smash X (one of the earliest Smash Bros. fangames):

Cleod9 wrote:
Imagine a Super Smash Bros. Flash sprite game? I've seen one before but it was really boring and wasn't like SSBM at all.

And later in 2006, he made this comment:

Cleod9 wrote:
Okay, I have an awesome idea! How about a game titled.

Super Smash Flash

And it will look exactly like Super Smash Bros. but in Flash instead! That will be a pretty big project for me but I think I can do it. It has only been done once before and I think they did a horrible job on it, try playing Super Smash X here:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/56069

There is no computer AI so you need 2 people to play, and the controls are horrible. I think I can top that easily with what I have right now. I found some images that are perfect to use with the movie, and I also have the song from the intro of SSBM so I can animate the entire thing. I'm sure it would be the new top game of Newgrounds!

Here's all I have ideas for so far:

Characters: Blade, Blue, Captain Falcon, Fox, Jigglypuff, Shiek, Zelda, Samus, and Possibly Mario/Luigi
Other: Opening intro using the song from the real SSBM

So now I need the following ideas from you guys:

-More Characters
-Stages
-Computer AI
-Controls
-Game Modes
-Extra Stuff

Apparently, this could be [one of] the earliest instance[s], the name Super Smash Flash was ever used, pretty nostalgic if you ask me. I also discovered something I never figured out, Super Smash Flash 1 actually got some demo versions, and got less updates than Super Smash Flash 2 is actually getting. At first, it seems SSF1 was early refered to as "flash Smash engine". I haven't came up with the earliest instance the name Super Smash Flash 2 was used, but I'll keep searching.

BTW, here is one of the earliest screenshots despicting the glitchy prototype of the then un-named SSF1 or what one day would become SSF1!

Yes that's Blade!

If anyone wants to take a closer look at the early SSF1, then go here: http://archives.mcleodgaming.com/viewto ... sh&start=0

Man, how time flies....

EDIT: After going through the archive thread for ssf1, it looks like Cleod made ssf1 in only a few months...

that's freakin' awesome, even if it's not as good as people thought back then.

 What an a****** you are, seriously. In fact, you are the only person who hasn't found this interesting, like other 6 users actually enjoyed this I shared, and no it's not autism, the word you are looking for is ADHD, but as of now, I have it under-control.
