Well there are a lot of memes in that video so I'm just going to rate Africa by Toto.

Africa is just a solid song, and for very clear reasons it's very nostalgic, bringing you back in time. It's also a song I think a lot of people respect, which kind of prevents it from getting overused in this generation where I feel many memes get overused too quickly. Ideal 2018 meme. I have no idea why it's become a meme this last year though, so that's why I hesitate giving it a full 10.

I honestly didn't really understand why this became a thing, I've used tide pods and never thought they looked like candy, and it kind of saddens me that people actually did this. It really shows how much we as people, especially kids, are influenced by the actions of others. On the plus side though, I did like the creation of tide-pod-chan, I think that's something positive that came from it.

better than "crack open a cold one with the boys" though. god that's a 0/10 because it was like 2 months, pointless, had hardly any place to be used, and ruined a perfectly fine expression because you couldn't say it without someone thinking you were trying to be funny. I think that's slowly going away though, in a year maybe that will be fine to say again

it kind of worked like an anti-meme, a lot of memes today are very predictable, for example spongegar is just "When surprising thing happens -> surprising face". This one really went against that because it didn't matter what the context or atmosphere of the image or comic it was placed in, so it could provide a lot of different feelings.
I also don't know why this one was within the last year, and I feel it was kind of short-lived, but I like it.




btw I feel that the goal of a meme should have a strong lifespan without breaking the border of getting too overused. there's a difficult balance here but it's important I feel

also this one is like 4/10 ✯✯✯✯ but it's hard to say, because it's very similar to spongegar. "Surprising thing -> surprising face".
It gets points because there haven't been as many pokemon memes recently and it's an incredible coincidence that it started at the same time as the new pokemon movie, but it's still a new meme. I feel it will get overused quickly and go to a 3/10 but well see

psyche, that's the wrong number was phenomenal when it came out. just watched the video again and I can't help but smile at those guys reacting so strongly to something so mild. weirdly though when I see it used in memes nowadays, I don't feel the same? it's weird because it can be used in the same way as wombo combo, but I feel wombo combo somehow belongs more, if that makes any sense. very subjective feelings here
