I was looking on the McLeodGaming Wiki and I found an article on Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII, which is going to be playable on the Nintendo Switch in 13 days. The article on the wiki said the following words and I quote:

"Cloud was previously confirmed to return in Super Smash Flash 2 as part of the initial roster for the game, with a new design initially based on his appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (though a revamp based on his original appearance from Final Fantasy VII was also proposed). However, following the release of v0.7 of the SSF2 Demo, the developers revamped the whole roster in order to accommodate some new, unexpected characters. Currently, Cloud's fate as a playable character is unknown."

This wasn't a leak at all; it was real. Does this mean Cloud could be in SSF2 Beta after the release of v1.2? Let me know what you think, site admins, SSF2 developers, the lot. Also, to the Site Admins and Moderators: please don't lock this. This is a need to know question.

Yeah, a while back they had a full roster that was public. Notable parts of this roster were seven anime characters (Goku, Naruto, Ichigo, Vegeta, Sasuke, Renji and Rock Lee), five original characters (Blade, Blue, Azrael, Spikeman and Robo-Ninja). A couple of SSF1 vets and unconfirmed new characters were also on there (Snake, Diddy Kong, Knuckles, Shadow, Cloud, Crono, Kratos Aurion from Tales of Symphonia, Zero, Riku/Dark Riku, and Mewtwo).

They scrapped it in 0.7 and declared that there'd be no more anime characters or OCs added to the game. The rest of the characters are still up in the air, however some people have interpreted a comment from one of the devs (I think it was centred around Rayman's reveal) that there'd be no SSF1 characters revealed at Smash Con (my interpretation) as outright confirmation that there are no SSF1 characters returning.

Regarding this question though:

The simplest answer for this question is "possibly, we don't know". They could very easily take his moveset from Smash Bros. and you'd have a very solid character there, but for now, we don't really know what the devs' roster plans are, because they aren't public anymore.

Glad they removed Rock Lee as playable. Three is too much.

But, was Luffy really in the old roster?

He was planned to be assist trophy, but in some april fools days, the devs said he's coming as a character.

Until ourselves (the community), really want this character.
