the United States, the government is currently considering a soda tax that would raise the price of a can of fizzy drink by around 10-12 US cents, bringing in some 14 billion dollars a year of revenue.

But "statistical modelling suggests that the price would have to double to significantly reduce soda consumption -- so a one-dollar can should cost two dollars," say the trio.
Hopefully this would stop me from giving myself acid from all that sugar. But, then again, coffee tastes like a** without sugar.

One time I went to the soda machine in my school to get a drink, but everything was fifteen cents more than usual. I brought exact change, so I couldn't get anything.
I've been scarred for life.

Or rather, if the subject matter doesn't apply to you, you don't have to vote, post, or participate in general.

I believe this is a good idea. As one who is a supporter of these kinds, I believe it's just one more step to repairing this deficit.

I thought that's what the first one was.

It might help but people who consume sugar on a daily basis won't change because it's a higher price

I don't like the idea, but if it lowers obesity and death count, I'm all for it...

Raising prices is no way to regulate what people eat. They might as well be emptying the ocean with a teaspoon. While simultaneously robbing people.

I'm not worried about people's malnutrition, rather smart and easy ways to lighten the deficit.

Yeah, but maybe they should find a better way to do it than by taxing things.

Maybe they should do a car wash!

Taxing is more or less the only way out of this pit right now. And then paying for large projects with said tax money, to get more people to work.

I was referring to making me the unquestioned king of the United States of America, but a car wash could work too.
