What is a good digital camera for taking Alaskan wildlife photos? We are looking to purchase a digital camera to use in taking photographs of wildlife on our Alaskan vacation this summer. We currently have point and shoot digital cameras but are thinking we should probably get a digital SLR with a telephoto lens. Ease of use would be helpful as we would be novices with this type of camera. Cost is not really an issue as we are looking at this as a once in a lifetime trip and want to make sure we have photos to preserve it. There is no specialty camera store anywhere near where we live so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Whew, a lot of the professional grades are $3000+ http://reviews.cnet.com/best-professional-dslr-cameras/Of course I bet you're looking for semi-professional stuff?
