The setting was a lush grassy feild, where many bugs and small animals crawled through the grass. A few trees stood nearby, and it was a rather hot day in Australia, where the coming battle would take place. Under the grass, the ground was rather solid, and would support footing quite well. The sun was being blocked by a desert cloud, making it slightly darker and taking a few degrees off the chart, but it was still very hot nonetheless.

OOC: Yeahhhhhhhhhhh... Thai could've wrote a way better opening speech, but hey, I was told to write it, so it's not my fault. Well, other than the fact that i'm not really good at describing specific areas, anyway. I'm letting Thai post first, so yeah.

((I'll try to reply within three days. And link to your character plox, can't find him.))

Another day in the bush. Sydney was low, near ground level in the brush as he crept along. Normally, he wouldn't be doing this but Saxton insisted he try man hunting. Cloud cover started rolling overhead and Sydney slowly got up in to a crouch, Mini-6.8 up and at the ready. Only the slouch hat on his head stood out among the grass line yet if one were to look for the glare of reflection from the panoply adorning his hat they would find none due to the shadow of the clouds.

He could feel it, the creatures of the land going about their business. They spoke with him through different means; sight, scent and sound. Womfat was elsewhere, innocuously waiting for Sydney's call. It was here that another kind of heavy footfall and alerts from the inhabitants gave away what Sydney sought. A man, not just any man, but a man who had been marked for death. He was still far enough away and a clean shot was all that was needed.

"No hard feelings mate," he said as he aligned the figure to the reticule on the scope.

OOC: http://forums.mcleodgaming.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=19704 I know it's missing appearance and abilities, but that's all there was to the test. I'll do my best to explain those subjects in-game. Besides, it more or less tells you his abilities in his backstory.

BIC: Vastik was pacing back and forth, trying to remember what he was doing here. Every time he turned, his golden hair, the end of which was just below the end of his ribcage, whipped the air whenever he made a turn. Walking up to a tree, childhood memories flooded in, and he couldn't help but climb it, seeing nobody around. As his foot embedded itself into the knobby bark, he used it as leverage to bring his other foot upwards, and repeated the process, his arms grabbing what they could for balance all the way. When he was up in the leafy madness, he noticed that his royal blue clothes were quite ripped up now, and quietly scolded himself for climbing the tree. But he stayed up nonetheless, enjoying the veiw of the plains from here, but went back into deep thought. Once more trying to put his finger on the question he asked himself earlier, he suddenly remembered someone telling him to meet them there, and he wondered how he even forgot. However, looking around, he didn't see anyone, so he simply decided to wait, and searched the tree for fruit.

Finger on the trigger, Sydney started to pull his finger back slowly. It was when the man moved. Up a tree to be more specific, clambering like an ape. There was sparse concealment but the height advantage was considerable. Prudence was the best course of action here and Sydney melted down in to the grass again. This time, his slouch hat came off his head and slowly and delicately, he removed one of the hollow glass bullets. Inside was a nefarious chemical agent. A neuro-toxin to be precise. It would act slowly on the body of a man, sapping his strength as the nervous system started shutting down, one neuron at a time. The process could take as long as several days, depending on dosage but regarding the volume of his projectile, it was more than enough to bring any man to their knees in hours, himself included. Sydney never bothered to carry the antidote for this particular poison, especially since it was costly and its chemical inertness was as about as inert as an enraged Tasmanian devil like the one in those cartoons that he occasionally watched when he was a child. This was why he was extra careful.

Unclipping the magazine from his rifle, Sydent ejected the unspent cartridge and inserted his special toxic round. Even though the poison was a sure kill, there was no point in wasting ammunition, especially if it could betray his presence. Putting the unspent round his hat where the poison used to be, he got up again slowly. Bracing himself in a sitting position, he raised his rifle up once again and took careful aim. His attention went to the surroundings first. A gust blew by, rustling the grass and he waited for it to steady and himself to calm as he spotted the blue attired man in the tree. Another gust was bound to follow and could move the cloud cover away. Taking one last breath, he centred in on the man's torso and took the shot.

From where Sydney sat, the rifle gave a little kick as the blast expelled the round from the gun. Whether it grazed the man or not, all he would feel would be a little sting. Which also meant there was no time to waste. Sydney fell back in to a prone position and reinserted the magazine of the rifle. He was going to crawl silently away, which by the time he started, the bullet should already have traversed the distance to the target.

Vastik heard something moving incredibly fast through the leaves and twigs around him, and swiftly unsheathed his saber to block any oncoming attacks. The poison shot nearly hit his thumb, but it hit the hilt of his sword an shattered, a few shards hitting his hand, and others not making it all the way through his jacket, as his face was apparently too high to reach. Vasik didn't know of any natural thing that sends what would seem to be a small rock full of an unknown liquid out of the ground at high enough velocities, to go through ones skull, so, preparing to see more of these... Things, he jumped from the tree and into the tall grass beneath him.

((Just so you know, the bullet would have hit you before you have heard the sound of the shot since a bullet travels at supersonic speed.))

((Sorry for the late reply, been doing work.))

There was surprisingly little sound, and though it could have been a kill shot, Sydney knew better than to stick around to find out. Terrestial animals were that easy to hunt; they are generally predictable. This was a man he was hunting and he took no chances. Even if the shot was not lethal, no matter how implausible, he was sure the target would get out of his perch to find him. At best, his target might only start feeling numb where the poison got in to his blood stream. The sensation would spread slowly, but it would not be fatal, merely inconvenient.

Sydney was approaching a clearing with a clump of trees. Well, he could relax a bit whilst waiting for a sign of his target's death.

Vastik began walking towards whatever had tried to kill him, carefully wading through the tall grass. When he reached where he was sure the strange rock had come from, he saw nothing, and so he thought to himself. Deciding that no civil man would simply try and kill anyone without reason, he concluded that he had invaded goblin territory, and that they considered him an intruder. Quickly thinking about what to say, he went with "E'y gruinz fvyuu gi kharn, E'y guer ai dreix.", meaning "I bring you no harm, I come in peace." in goblinish. He then awaited a reply, but kept guard due to the fact that goblins usually aren't that easy to talk into peace.

The noise of the brush was not enough to stymy out the awkward and weird phrase Sydney heard. Oh great, a foreigner, he thought. Well for one thing, that means his target survived. That meant he still had a job to do. Shuffling quickly to the opposite edge of growth from where he emerged, he got back down in to a prone position in the direction of the sound. Sydney bent a few plants to cover the barrel and scope of his rifle as best he could, but the cloud cover was moving away and there isn't much he could do to cancel out the reflection from his scope. It wouldn't matter too much of course. As soon as his target stepped in to view, a piece of hot lead would be headed his way.

Vastik, hearing some brush moving, turned his head towards the noise he had heard. Lightly blowing into a few of the small holes in his saber (which didn't effect the durability of said sword, as it was made of a very strong type of metal around these holes), it sounded as if he were blowing into a small wind instrument, as light chiming could be heard. The air around him began to swirl slightly, becoming faster when he blew harder (but he never really blew very hard), and ccalming down when he blew lighter. This was a defence mechanism he used often to cause arrows to stumble through the air, making them miss their target. Of course, he wasn't blowing nearly hard enough right now to stop any arrows right now, let alone bullets, but as I said earlier, he was blowing very lightly, warming up for what might come.

((Lulz))

A melody wafted through air. It was unnerving and tempting to take a shot in the direction of the sound but he did not bring any sub sonic ammunition with him. A small rodent happened by his position. He could take advantage of this. Moving slowly and coaxing the little creature in to his hands, Sydney got a hold of the rodent before getting up and hurling the terrified little thing across the clearing towards the sounds. He quickly resumed overwatch.

((Back to writing my report.))

Vastik, seeing a RODENT flying at him of all things, acted on instinct, which to his dismay, was to blow into the saber as hard as he could. The air around him immediately began to swirl fast enough to rip grass from the ground, which it did. The small rodent, being rather light, was flung quite a few feet to Vastik's left, rolling into a patch of unharmed grass. Knowing that these things, probably goblins, weren't going to allow him to pass through, he slashed through the air in front of him, slowing his defence to a halt and causing a quickly rotating disk of air to vertically slice its way towards the source of the flying rodent.

((Sorry for the late reply, been a smidge busy/lazy/lying-about-busy. And I wasn't really sure what to do with the rodent, as projectiles can usually be blocked without it counting as autoblockin' or whatever, but I dunno about the case of a livin' creature.))

((You see, I didn't intend on making it hit you, it served a different, yet tactical purpose for the fight. Which is why I kinda left it open for interpretation, kind of like the speed of your disk of air. From what I can infer; its rotating quickly yet moving at a pace that I can not determine and shall assume to be slower than I can get up and move to the side.))

It worked, whoever made that sound rustled enough grass to allow him to pin point his location to a fair degree. Quickly estimating the distance and accounting a little for the drop, Sydney took aim and let off two shots. The shots were quick, and it served more than just the killing part of his plan. Always have a plan to kill everyone you meet was something he had learned to do while in the business. It made sense but he also made sure to have plenty of back up plans too. It'd have a good chance to hit, nothing could outsmart a bullet even knowing it was coming. Sydney hoped at the very least it'd hit his target, there wasn't such a thing as a non-fatal wound.

Having just revealed his position, he got up silently by with enough speed and headed to the right of where he threw the rodent. Sydney kept low, crouching as he was about to his make way around the clearing, making as little noise as was possible as he parted the tall grass in front of him with the barrel of his rifle.

Vastik, hearing rustling, looked over just in time to feel two painful (a large understatement) holes in his left shoulder. Thanking himself for not being left-handed, he fell onto his back due to the unexpected force of the shots. Looking to his side, he heard more rustling, and knew that the goblin would strike in a manner of seconds. The disk of air, meanwhile, would crash into the ground where the man had been mere moments ago in about three seconds, as although it moved quickly at first, the further it went, the more it acted like a buzzsaw. The technique was meant to be fired at a medium range, as otherwise it would be extremely easy to dodge, which the being had taken advantage of. Nonetheless, the disk crashed, causing a large explosion of dust to erupt from the ground- it was now clear that the attack would have easily killed the stranger had he not moved. Vastik rolled harshly to the left and into a patch of grass before getting to his knees and into a springing position, ready to strike.
