I'm not arguing also Rule number 22. *Spamming*) Don't make organized topics for spamming other forums (or these forums as well, and don't let me catch you talking about it)
This isn't considered a spam try reading the forum rule for once before you start accusing me of spamming.

...*slams head on desk* can we get back on topic now?

Sure why not. although you're not making sense by saying " can we go back on topic now?" I been on topic from the start.

[ Image ]

A JUS version would look good.

I can't do JUS, i can't find a good tut.

could you edit it to jus or CoM style?

Just gonna say this, but Ramsey may make a just tutorial.

I did a kingdom key, it isn't shaded yet, but do you think it could be improved anywhere?

I hope this makes sense.

The legs appear to be facing towards the viewer, while the body is at an angle; this may be that the person is simply twisting his body at the hips to give this image, but he would need a wider stance to portray an image. If the character is meant to stand at a approx. 45-d angle, the feet and legs should be altered to convey the message. Try having his left foot point more towards the viewer (us), move the right leg slightly forward and upward, and have his right foot point to the right. It may look like his legs are possibly pointing in the same direction as his body now.

For the bottom of his cloak, the width of the two sides should probably be reversed. The right side of the cloak having more surface like the current left part of the cloak, where the left of the cloak having the surface of the current right part. I also believe that the current left part of the cloak is angled outward too much, and should be flatter, pointing downward in a angle similar to the right part of the cloak.

About the chest area, it seems fairly narrow and too upright; and his left arm seems abnormally rigid and straight. I think his arms should move closer to his body, and bend at the elbows, to hold those weapons in front of him. It would seem more of a natural pose to hold weapons in front of the person, unless the person is holding them outward to intimidate his foe.

I can't locate a face, but I can tell that's a hood covering the head; is the man wearing a black mask to shield his face, or is the light repelled by the hood effective that the face is completely hidden?

For shading, the person appears to be wearing in a completely black outfit that covers the entire body; leaving little to no exposure. It is difficult to shade a black cloak touching black pants; so I think they should have mildly different shades of color. Using black for the entire outfit and character could pose difficulties in telling the features apart.

Usually the best way to shade a object is to first determine a light source. If the light source is directly above a character, the lightest shades would appear closer to the camera, while darker shades would appear farther from the camera.

A good example of shading:

Hope it helps!

One thing you should do to make this better is use some lighter colors... in real life nothing is really dark dark black xcept sometimes at night...

@shadow45, Please just stop spriting, until you can get tutoring or a good quality tutorial on spriting. Please stop hurting my eyes,
By the way the part of your sig that has children for the first word, isn't that from a childish book my 4yr old cousin told me about called Captain Underwear or something?

@Kiki, fine.
@shadow45, before you try really hard at spriting, try getting tutoring from someone on the forum, ask nice and PM them with a message using good grammar, and explain why you want tutoring so bad to become a way better spriter. But don't you dare ask me, I'm getting tutoring for spriting characters by Chaosvii7, and spriting tutoring, for stages by Neron.

Maybe you should use good grammar before telling others too >_>.

In my opinion, you shouldn't necessarily base you "spriting education" on tutorials or other people, making your own sprites from scratch is a good place to start, maybe with something familiar like a video game character or animal.

As for you character there, I'd suggest working on getting his anatomy a little more settled, and the details a little more defined. The shade differences are too subtle. I would also work on the shading. Just imagine a ball of light is above and in front of him (or somewhere else if you'd like), choose a few shades to use . It's good to have a pallete of colors that YOU have chosen to use.

Just keep at it. The ability comes over time and with lots of practice.

I get what you mean, Should I just do a circle and shade it from a point to practice?

I would say that would be a good start.
Keep in mind though, that most characters don't have surfaces like a sphere, so you're going to have to shade everything a little differently.
