You're going to have to be more specific than that.

Sounds like a major issue. But Thai's right, we'll need more info than that. Tell us what is happening and how you discovered it.

Hardware issues? Get a technician. Virus? Download Spybot, MalwareBytes, and every other free real antivirus there is, and scan. If they don't work, take everything personal off the computer, and destroy it in a pit of fire.
Just my suggestions.

Hmmm...I think a good plan would be to log off all affected accounts on the computer, shut down the computer, go to another computer and change all the passwords on the affected accounts, then restart your virus-infected computer and bombard it with every real free antivirus scan known to mankind and their mothers..
Unless you mean user accounts on the computer itself, in which case you should do the last step I said or get a new computer. EDIT: And either way, don't forget to back up your files.

Is there a pop up? A screen cap would help.

Wiping it partial by partial? What do you mean by that? Is it randomly wiping folders and stuff? Well, if you can run the Internet, I suggest running a quick scan on Malware Bytes found here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpOf course, a full scan would be better, but depending on how much stuff you have it can take up more than 30 minutes. I recommend getting a USB or portable hard-drive which is not used often and backing up important files. Eg. School work, files of other members (I take it that it's a shared computer). Well, if the worst comes to the worst that you have to reformat, you'll still have your files back (just make sure to scan the drive before copying files over).

And what was wrong with my advice? (Oh yeah, the fact that their advice is better.)

I could use circular logic right now but the real reason is because you advise him to destroy his computer outright.

No, I'm asking him to back up everything he loves dearly, then use every existing real antivirus to get rid of the virus.
And if nothing works, then he can destroy his computer outright.

People who fix hardware problems with a computer by calling a technician should shut up right about now. Also, moving this to general electronics. Now somebody tell the TC to stop rambling nonsense and to be clear about his issue, so we can give some specific help.

Do you have an antivirus? Try scanning with it. Like the others said, Malwarebytes is pretty good. We really can't help you unless you give more in depth information on what is going on.
If nothing else works, backup all EXTREMELY important files on some external hard drive (note extremely, since you want to minimize the number of files you are backing up), and reinstall Windows. This will completely wipe your hard drive squeaky clean. While it will get rid of all your files, it will get rid of the virus. Then you can put back on your important files. It's important here to minimize the number of files you save, because any one of them could be infected.
