I's has gots a theory.

I think that somewhere, deep inside her mind, Haruhi knows about her powers. I think she knows she's god.

She knew about her powers at some time. She didn't know completely, she had her whole life before the time the SOS Brigade was formed, maybe all the events of the story have already happened before, but without the abnormal-ness. Maybe she lived in a time like that in The Vanishment, where everybody was normal and she just happened to become acquainted with Kyon. Then, without the supervision of the three groups watching her, she somehow found out what she was.

Once she did that, something probably happened, something like what Koizumi tells Kyon might happen if she finds out. So, she erased her memory, turned the clock back three years (Screwing up the time planes, hence Mikuru), created the DITE (Resulting in them discovering and studying humans, hence Nagato), and created the Agency (Giving them the ability to keep her now condensed power in check, hence Koizumi).

However, even doing so, she still had a small portion of that memory locked deep, deep inside her mind.

My evidence to support this theory:

- She sings a song called God Knows. I don't know, I think I'm seeing a relation here?
- The Espers are there solely to keep her powers in check.
- She, in a way, used her hair to attract Kyon's attention. (In the anime, she has her hair down in Taniguchi's dating story, even though it was most likely on a weekend). This could just be a normal Haruhi move, but why just start it in High School unless you had a goal to it? And why suddenly some guy who would suddenly know how to keep her powers in check from the outside?
- The time planes Mikuru talked about... According to her, at a sudden moment they stopped being able to go past three years before our story began. Why just suddenly? The way Mikuru explains it, it seems they were able to before. In a way, nothing should've been able to alter it, it's the past, it's already happened. The only way I can think of is if someone of godlike power rewound the world and accidentally (Or purposely) screwed things up.

I can probably think of some other evidence, but that's my theory.

That is very in-depth and well thought out. However, you neglected to mention Kyo's special part in all of this. How is a normal person able to accept and endure the events he is constantly faced with?

Consider the possibility that Kyon was also an essential part of Haruhi's future. Perhaps, when the alternate reality was taking place, they were lovers. Then, as she discovered her powers, Kyon did so, too. He may have accepted them and embraced her abnormalities. Then, they grew out of control and destroyed him in the process. That's when she snapped and erased her memory and set the time plane back before any of it took place and ensuring there were things set up to control her so that it wouldn't happen again. This would explain Kyon's ability to accept the weirdness he encounters so non-nonchalantly. It would also explain why Haruhi used the pet name for him the moment they met. Kyon's real name is exponentially different, yet she uses the completely informal "Kyon" when around him, the "n" at the end stressing a subtle comforting attraction. She only ever called anyone else by their proper name.

My theory on Kyon and your theory on Haruhi combined form the ultimate hypothesis! There's no way we could be wrong!

I applaud your wild mass guessing. It is a fact that Kyon and Haruhi share a special relationship. If this series eventually gets animated to the fourth book, maybe the case about Kyon being the slider will finally be laid to rest.
