EDIT: I had a random thought, guys. What if that picture represents what we see in the direct. Old box represents something that's been in Smash before, Futuristic box represents something new, and the present could be a complete surprise?

Pikachu obviously is telling us that the reveal of the box will be a shock to us, the rolling crate is saying prosthetics, and the Skyloft setting is telling us it'll be a LoZ rep. The runes say, if you're a genius like me, all of what's to come, which is a magic-casting, handi-capable Link, followed by Excitebiker and Liquid Snake as newcomers.

Pikachu represents SMB64 char reveal(since he was top tier) And it being a rolling crate represents a pretty mobile move the character has *cough* egg roll *cough* Skyloft is for the "surprise" aspect to be a zelda character. That's my theory.
