Let's bring up the dancing blade again... :marth:
As most of you know the dancing blades 3rd hit when input as up (the blue one) is a decent meteor.
I've been chilling in the lab and trying to see whether using this for edgeguarding is even something that I should try in competitive play. It's easy enough to hit on CPUs, but I'm wondering about against other players...
My logic is that they wouldn't expect it, but do other players expect something like that and should I try to incorporate that into my Marth?

Nerfs
-More end lag on side-special.
-Side special hit box decreased so that it doesn't extend past the actual sword.
-Side special has less air gliding ability, or whatever it's called (Melee levels).
-Dolphin slash has more landing lag.
-More end lag on dair.
-More end lag on uair.
-Tipper f-smash is less generous and give it decreased knock back.

Buffs
-Make up-special kill around 110%
-Make up throw a kill move around 110%
-Give him an idle animation where he faces the player, and not his back.
-Make f-smash better at killing without tipper.

Uthrow kill at 110%? That sounds a bit broken to me. Like on Lightweights, thats kinda crazy...

Eh. A lot of throws kill pretty early, but that's near the ledge. Maybe not that early, but still make it able to kill at higher percents.

I like the idea of it killing, but 110% is a bit early. More like 125% on lightweights, and like 160 on like heavyweights.

125% still seems really low, considering Marth really doesn't have a problem getting KO's and has a really good neutral too, which means getting grabs is easier with him compared to other characters with kill throws (most of which are back throws which aren't as reliable depending on where on the stage you are).

Don't give Marth an easy kill option from grabs. One of Marth's major (or only) weaknesses is that he has problems landing kills at high percent, and removing that weakness makes a big difference against lightweights and floaties.

How does he have problems landing kills at high percents?
Tipping half of his attacks will kill if set up properly.
UThrow > Tipped UAir Kills around 90
Anything > Tipped FSmash Kills at very low percents
Proper edgeguarding can kill from 0
The meteor of his DAir kills at decent percentages.
USmash will kill a little above 100...

There's plenty of options (even not listed above) it's just all about setting up...

(And UThrow kills from like 110% from the top platform on battlefield, so killthrow is already confirmed)

The problem isn't the power in his moves: the problem is landing them.

Uthrow -> Uair works at very specific percents and is very sensitive to DI and platforms. Tippers are not easy to land unless you get a good combo into them, which isn't always easy. Proper edgeguarding is one of those things that's easier said than done: unless you're playing Sora, you're probably not going to get anything from hitting them offstage unless you a get a powerful hit like a tipper, which is pretty rare due to the riskiness of these moves. Ditto with dair. Tipper Usmash is nearly impossible to land unless the opponent walks right into it, because the hitbox is really hard to use.

Marth is one of those characters that either kills below 100% or after 150%: he either finds a setup into one of his kill moves, or he exhausts the percentages where those work and he has to fish for something in neutral.

or he can spam fsmash and pray for tipper which kills easily at like 70-100% most of the cast :)

I see what you mean.
(and i didn't mean tipper on the upsmash, those are just stupidly hard to hit).
You don't need to go that deep offstage to edgeguard, sometimes taking the second jump away with a sloppy FAir and then grabbing the ledge is enough.
I agree with almost everything you said, but it's also not as black and white as we're making it out to be... I've had people run into a FSmash before or DI badly.
So I agree a lot with what you said in the last paragraph.
