I know there is already a "tips" post; but i believe there needs to be more for new RPers who actually want to get better. There are several points in this URL that'd even help -me- out.

It covers absolutely everything you could think of in creating an interesting, unique character; while i do not like his format for profiles; the wide range of information he suggests is top notch. Its a great Guide for any RPer looking to improve their character's spectrum and make them truly dynamic.

It goes over things such as..

* Primary Motivator
* Emotional Disposition
* Outlook
* Integrity
* Birthplace: name, size, location
* Any pre-adventuring training or experience in a profession or craft
* One or two mysteries, conflicts, and/or significant past events
* Adventure trigger and/or quests
And much more, even giving ideas for plot points within their life.

If anything, the guide serves to give you a scale of ideas at least, as a large variety of different traits are provided and suggested.
