Adblock for firefox has a feature that lets you block specific images, so you could just add that specific image to the block list.

I'm not going to download something just because some guys have huge animations in their signatures. They load up so slow! Can't we have a new spoiler tag? (You click it first to see the image, like in MFG) Sometimes people with them even double post and you have two animations in your signature. Just put up a link!!! Nobody likes it and nobody needs to see it. If they want to, they'll just click the link.

It isn't downloaded, it's stored in your Video card's cache. Most modern cards have atleast 512 MB of it, you're fine. They are also compressed so that they don't whore up your memory. Nobody needs a spoiler tag, and your aesthetics for a lack of a swirly gif animation at the top of your browser aren't shared by the whole forum.

I like it, I'd like to see it. If that bothers you, block the image. It's that simple. Quit whining, jeez. Nobody wants to see people's two-frame gifs in their avatars, but you don't see threads about it.

On the other hand, he loves the idea bolded. Not only it would help to avoid sign, but downloading times...
I say not only having "spoiler tags", but we should make them compulsory on big and/or heavy signatures.

Note:
I don't mean spoiler tags as we use them. I'm talking about the spoiler tags that "literally" hide a bounch of text, images and flash movies. (they are not downloaded until the spoiler tag is opened).

Well there's an idea brewing in my head. I can create BBcodes without having to go in and edit forum files. Maybe I can experiment and see if I can get CSS files to work inside them somehow so we can have boxes you can open/close to hide and show images and other content. Hell if I can use CSS it opens up a whole world of possibilities.

That's what I'm saying. Good luck finding the code for it. I've done this before but using IF forums. I'm gonna try to find the code again since IF forums have changed to Zeta (which SUCKS BTW).

Anyhoo, long animated gifs are annoying, but you only load them once, then the problem is more or less solved. If you can't sit out that long initial wait, you really will be missing out on a few things.


That is an idea that I can support. The current spoiler tags are okay for text but not so much for anything else.

I had fire fox, and personally didn't like it. I use chrome myself and find it better. It's just an opinion, not a problem.
