I agree but I think the system could be tweaked to be actually fun rather then removing it completely because it didn't quite work right off the bat. I'm personally thinking into the direction of being able to store Lvl 1's and 2's á la Marvel vs Capcom and other similair fighting games, or, as you said, a health system of sorts.

I think the gimmick of gameplay revolving around large powerfull attacks is an interesting way of thinking, since it also extends to the character designs (i.e. 'how 2 set up'). Sadly, this wasn't really translated well in PSABR, but I blame Superbot's way of working for this, they were really inconsistant.
Again, I really don't like Kendall as a designer and Superbot in general, I'm almost glad Sony broke up with them.

So basically, no matter what anyone might say, I think this concept can be made into something good.

howbout that Kat n' Emmett

Kat's fun as f***, I love zooming all over the place with her

I don't really like only being able to have one turret out with Emmett, though. That's what I loved doing most in Starhawk, scattering like five of those f*** around. He's not a super interesting character, I think.. Unique, but not really fun to play.

So i got to try both of them and the new patch. A mixed bag of feelings inside

First the patch,
-New characters: Kat and Emmett
-New stages for offline play: Rival Arena and Fearless (must be purchased to play)
-Two Minions can be unlocked by getting level 80 with 2-3 different characters (Dr. Nefarious and Panda)
-Dante's new artwork in character select... It's horrible
-buffs/nerfs to some characters (No details listed yet but there are reports of Dante and Nariko been nerfed)

Second, Kat and Emmett,

KatFirstImpressions: show
Kat: Very unique. Her mobility is her strongest point. Unlike other characters, her double jump is an 8 way dash. Gets her around corners and avoiding supers. Her level 1 isn't the best but it's a welcome addition. Her level 2 is one of the most helpful if used properly. Her level 3 is just as average as Evil Cole's. It's basic and it's fun by a whole lot but the attacks and size of the level 3 is kind of easy to avoid. It's like a mix of Kratos and Evil Cole packed into one.

New costume looks nice. Reminds me of Cammy

EmmettFirstImpressions: show
Emmett: Honestly, at my first play with Emmett: I had more fun with Emmett than Kat but he's definitely not a stronger character than Kat. Though, after playing with Emmett a couple of times: He's really... average. His ability to summon turrets/generators/boxes makes him way too predictable to opponents and could make Emmett a really tough character to master. The AP generator is worse than PaRappa's, the two summoned weapons (some kind of Plasma launcher and a shotgun which doesn't help as much) aren't varied much and you'll definitely be focusing on the plasma launcher more often than the shotgun. The turret however puts him in a safe spot for the while but that can be destroyed easily... Still helpful much.

His Level 1 super is a horizontal shot with a really punishable end delay (the shotgun is 2 bursts horizontally and diagonally but the end delay is pushed further a bit). The plasma launcher is the best level 1 because it goes straight through the opponents and goes much farther than the regular shot.

His Level 2 isn't as strong as Toro's at all. It only hits opponents in a short-medium radius and can be easily avoided by air/roll dodging whereas Toro's is kind of hard to dodge and is in a much bigger radius.

The Level 3 (which i underestimated at first) isn't as powerful and godlike as i hoped. He's like Sweet Tooth's level 3 sprinkled with a few limited options. The first big issue was that i couldn't kill opponents under me at all. That's a downfall because close opponents can roll around me and waste my level 3 completely (That was my first impression till TerminX just told me now that it can be done by pressing down + square. Thank you TerminX). The aerial mines were way too high and i doubt that anyone is going to jump that much height to land onto them. The last option i had was to use the Air Hawk technique but that's only best used as a last resort to the level 3 super. And when i used it, it only targets a random specific area on the screen and looks very predictable.

In terms of competing with characters like Radec, Nathan, Jak, and Ratchet: He's good. In terms of competing with the entire cast: He's average. He's a mixed hitter at close combat so that's balanced enough for him. Though he's not the best and most welcome addition at first, he's only fun at first grip of the character and a few short bursts within.

The new costume isn't varied either. It's like Dante's where they just added/removed a few things on the original costume and called it a day

Agreed about his s*** new costume

But down+square on his Level 3 is a stomp move. You can hit people under you with it.

I actually didn't notice Donte's new portrait. I'll have to look at it soon.

And all those DLC minions, god damn. At only 50c though, I might buy Ashelin or Carmelita. It's better than the on disc ones, at least.

Oh. Didn't notice that. I thought it would've been mapped to another button like Sweet Tooth's level 3.

Definitely like Emmett more than Kat. While Kat has some nice combos, she feels kind of weird and not my playstyle at all. Emmett, on the other hand, has all of these little tricks to keep him in the game (Plus an easy level 1 hit confirm with his side square).

Holy s***, I did not expect any more DLC for this game.

I'll purchase 'em both, but I don't particularly like either character. It's just cool to see them keep going, man.

f***' neat.

Also the MediEvil stage looks fantastic

Currently Playing: with power. Nintendo power.
Normally I'm all about the DLC, but Zeus? Really? All this preparation, and they went with another God of War character? They could have tried getting Ezio, or Sub-Zero, or the Prince of the Cosmos even, but they went with an already-used IP.

I'd sacrifice more IPs for more unique characters. There's a preview video of the two on IGN's page:

YouTube Video:

Isaac has some cool tools (and a f*** awesome level 3), but Zeus impresses me the most. He seems like a lot of fun to play, and a legitimate TANK character. (Also his level 3 is super f*** cool too)

I'd rather have a generic-nothing-special character that brings a new, unique playstyle than a super cool guy who plays boring as f***. Just me, though.
