Name (aka Handle):
MaskofTruth

How old are you?:
I am 19

Which characters do you play in SSF2? Why do you play these characters? (Note: do not list characters that are not currently in the game):
I play all current characters except Mario, Kirby, Pikachu, and Sonic.

How much experience do you have with official Smash titles? (SSB64, Melee, Brawl. Include in this answer which characters you play/played.):
I have never played SSB64. I have played about a weeks worth of Melee. I have played Brawl for about 2 years to this date.
---
In Melee I preferred Pichu because how everyone looked down upon it.
In Brawl I would play any character but Snake.

Have you ever attended any Smash tournaments? If so, give some details about the tournament (number of participants, which games, etc). How well did you place?
I have not attended any tournaments, official nor local.

When did you start playing SSF2?
I started playing SSF2 near the end of V.9A, or about 2 months before V9.B

What is your favorite stage in SSF2? Explain.
I prefer Dream Land because it is decently large with corresponding platforms, and gives a fair(IMO) recovery chance to all fighters on the roster, as well as to providing edgeguard potential.

Who, in your opinion, should be placed first on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a higher level than all others?
As of 9.B Wario is considerably stronger in the respect that he has intense combos and a devastating Down Throw(when the victim fails a tech-get-up). Wario also possess a very powerful, but timer based, kill attack, DownSpecial (gasNuke) which can and will kill on contact.

Who, in your opinion, should be placed last on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a lower level than all others?
Sonic would be the worst in my eyes because his recovery and attacks are predictable for the most part, and more importantly, punishable in most cases. He lacks the speed needed to keep up his onslaught. If Sonic were stronger or faster then I would need to find a replacement for the 'worst character' role.

If you could make only one change to SSF2 as it currently is, what would it be and why?
I would appropriate visual action with corresponding hitboxes/hurtboxes.

What is your view on items in competitive play?
Items are a definite 'no' for competition, with *maybe* Food on the lowest spawn setting.

Do you have or can you download Skype? You don't need a mic or webcam.
I do have skype, but I am inexperienced with it. (will not use mic or webcam, FYI)

Why do you want to join the Smash Flash Back Room? What will you contribute? Why are you an exceptional applicant? Be as detailed as possible.
I would like to join the Smash Flash Back-Room because I wish to know more about the game's mechanics and exploits(so that I don't use them 0.0'). I could contribute mundane information such as 'This will happen if you perform This Action at This time', although it is very little, I'm afraid, because I can't play online due to internet speeds.

Additional information (Include in this section anything relevant to your application. This could include links to videos of yourself playing.)
I assume that Replays will suffice. I am not afraid to say that I lost(which is proven by the win/lose ratio of 3/2{human})
This is just a sample of my replays, I would not like to put 15 replays in one spot...If I did "attention whore"

Use this list to answer the following questions.
Stage List: show

WarioWare
Yoshi's Story

Counterpick:

Dreamland

Tower of Salvation
Castle Siege
Dracula's Castle
Sky Sanctuary Zone

1. From the Stage List provided, which are Sonic's best and worst stages? Discuss the benefit(s) and detriment(s) of both stages.

Imagine that you are at a tournament. You lost to a Meta Knight player on Dreamland as Mario, and he has banned Final Destination/Nintendo 3DS. Provided that neither you nor you opponent will be switching characters answer the following questions using the Stage List above:

2. Which stage is would be the best Counterpick for Mario against Meta Knight? Discuss how the stage benefits Mario in this particular Matchup.

3. Assuming that you won the next match and banned Tower of Salvation, which stage would Meta Knight Counterpick against Mario? Discuss how the stage benefits Meta Knight in this particular Matchup.

Be detailed in your responses.

1.)
Sky Sanctuary Zone - would be best suited to Sonic because it enhances Sonic's momentum with the high'th of the platforms, and also provides quick reference for Side Special. The flat siding of the outside of the stage allows Sonic to SideSpecial into which provides a sweet-spot ledge-grab recovery.
Sonic is most adept at small stages with low platforms where he can take control and keep moving, which only the platform is provided by Sky Sanctuary, so it is arguable that Sonic has a neutral advantage on this stage if he cannot advance at all times.

Dracula's Castle - would be worst suited to Sonic because it is both large, and it's platforms are at varying locations of both high'th and location.
Sonic will have to break momentum at any given moment if his opponent has any sort of projectile.
Given that Sonic can set a trap for ambitious attackers by grounded-Up Special onto a platform, which when the enemy hits the spring they will be launched upward which can set up a SideSpecial, or SpotDodge->Smash depending on the situation.

2.)
Since MetaKnight excels at aerial combat, I would choose a low platform stage that is also small because if MetaK. does start Nair'ing Mario off stage, Mario can Fast-Fall and followup with UpSpecial to recover and deal damage(not fool proof).
So the stage that I would choose that would be most advantageous for Mario against MetaKnight would be WarioWare.
Choosing a smaller stage is better as opposed to a larger one because MetaK. can rack up more damage before the end of the stage.

3.)
Setting aside the familiarity bias, the MetaK. player will most surely choose a large open stage with medium-high platforms, which is either Smashville, or Dracula's Castle. I will assume Dracula's castle will be the chosen stage for this inquiry.
On Dracula's Castle MetaK. can either choose to run-down, space, play defensive, or a mix of the three which is possible because of the changing platforms.
MetaK. benefits from this stage because his multiple jumps allows him to change directions on a dime to allow variation to his movement based on the platforms.
MetaK.'s multiple ways of recovery may also make use of the platforms by quickly moving him from the fight to a safe location, depending on the situation.

*(extra)* This stage will be a disadvantage to Mario because of the constant movement of platforms which can be confusing and difficult to navigate, with his limited jumps, while performing desired attacks.

1) Please discuss the Wario vs Marth MU, and also give a ratio in the form of 60-40 to express the matchup. Be detailed in your response, and be sure to explore all options of each character.

2) Following up: Assuming you are playing as Wario, and using the stage list provided in the previous question post, deduce which stage would game 1 take place on. Follow the stage striking order 1-2-1, and lets suppose you won RPS so you get to strike the first stage. Please indicate which stages you would strike and which stages the Marth would strike, and give your reasoning behind each.

1.)
As of the current demo, Marth's sword is in most cases a hurtbox- keep this in mind
Assuming the Marth's DownAir tipper ability will land 5 out of 10 times, I would rate a Wario/Marth matchup to be 50/50, due to Marth having range, decent kill power, and combo ability. Wario has excellent combo ability and moderate-low kill power with the exception of a few attacks.

-In this fight the Marth will attempt to avoid the edge whenever Wario is closer to the center, and will also try to keep a chain grab combo to at least 70% where Marth can tipper Smash Wario for a near guaranteed kill.
Other tactics would be Dancing Blade gimps(SideSpecial/Side->Up->Up) followed by a timed DownSpecial, or charged SideSmash.
-Wario will attempt to combo or run(to charge GasNuke) to around 90% then go for a DownThrow kill or sweetspot UpAir.
ShortHopping SideSpecial will provide intimidation pressure and may occasionally hit.

2.) Game 1
As Wario, I want a small stage with platforms that are low, Marth would desire a stage that is moderate in size with high platforms, or none.

First I would strike Final Destination and Nintendo 3DS---------------Both without platforms
My opponent would probably strike WarioWare and Yoshi's Story -Low platforms that Wario would benefit from
My final strike would be Battlefield-----------------------------------------Highest platforms of the remaining stages.

So the remaining stage would be Pokemon Stadium 3.

Starter:

Battlefield
Final Destination/Nintendo 3DS (both stages can be stricken at once)
Stadium III
WarioWare
Yoshi's Story

And don't worry, since you submitted this before the new patch came out you don't have to wait until NEXT patch. But don't go reapplying right away, take some more time to learn!
