Why can't we just change our names from our profile, instead of having to wait for the name changing topic? If we could change our own names it would save the adminstration the trouble.

i agree! but people abuse the name changing topic by repeatively (spelling?) posting in it anyways, why not take the admin out of it to save them the trouble!

Allowing users to change their own name is not a good idea. It makes it really easy to abuse, because the only thing you can't change then on your own easily is your post count.
